Netflix has just released the first trailer and poster for its upcoming crime thriller, Night Always Comes. The movie will arrive on the streaming service on August 15, 2025. Based on the novel by Willy Vlautin, the film tells the story of a woman trying to survive in a harsh world.

Directed by Benjamin Caron, Night Always Comes follows Lynette, played by Vanessa Kirby, who’s stuck in a tough situation in the Pacific Northwest. She’s desperate to raise enough money to escape her difficult life. Netflix shared that the film is all about Lynette’s struggle to break free.

Vanessa Kirby leads the cast and also works as one of the producers. Talking about the film, Kirby called it “a raw and honest story about survival and family.” Joining her are Jennifer Jason Leigh as Doreen, Zack Gottsagen as Lynette’s brother Kenny, and Stephen James, Julia Fox, Eli Roth, Randall Park, and Michael Kelly in other roles.

The movie is adapted from the 2021 novel The Night Always Comes. Benjamin Caron directed the film from a script written by Sarah Conradt. Production began in Portland, Oregon in spring 2024. According to Netflix, the film is produced by Aluna Entertainment along with Vanessa Kirby herself, Lauren Dark, Benjamin and Jodie Caron, Gary Levinsohn, and Billy Hines.

Netflix dropped the trailer and poster together this week. The trailer gives viewers a glimpse of Kirby’s character fighting to hold her life together, set against rainy streets and shadowy city scenes.
