The new Alien: Earth teaser has fans buzzing after it seemed to confirm something unexpected, we’re maybe getting new types of alien life in the series. This won’t just be the Xenomorphs everyone knows. Director Noah Hawley hinted at this before, and now the latest footage makes it feel real.

Besides the regular Xenomorphs and Facehuggers, Hawley hinted that the show would go even further. He wants to bring back the mystery and horror that made the original films famous. He said, “I am trying to re-mystify Alien. So much of what made that first movie and the second movie so horrifying was that every time you thought you knew what the lifecycle of this creature was, it just got worse.”

Hawley explained that the original films kept surprising the audience with new, terrifying stages of the alien creatures, and he’s trying to do the same with this series. “I’ve tried to come up with ways that the show returns that sense of, ‘What’s going to happen next? That’s so gross!’”

Hawley shared some big changes coming to the look of the Xenomorphs too. He said he wanted them to feel more like bugs this time around. “I wanted to play into more of the bug-like quality of it, so maybe it falls a little more in the roach coloration,” he explained. This is a clear shift from the dark, black creatures seen in earlier films.

Executive producer Dana Gonzales also spoke about the new designs. He said they worked hard to make the creatures look scary on camera. “I think we designed something that is very photographable and scary and detailed… we can kind of fly the Xeno around and stuff like that. So it’s not so much just coming out and scaring you and having that kind of jump scare. It’s literally flying through the air. It’s chasing,” he said.

Interestingly, Gonzales revealed that all of the Xenomorphs fans will see in the show are real. “We don’t have any CG Xenomorph. It’s 100% real.” He also confirmed the same for the Facehuggers. They were all built by the famous Wētā team. “I don’t know how many we have, but we have many Facehuggers that do different things,” he added.

A lot of fans are asking just how much Xenomorph action the show will deliver. According to Gonzales, the answer is a lot. “We’re seeing more Xenomorph than any of these movies,” he promised. He pointed out that in past Alien films, the monsters were shown only in quick flashes. Alien: Earth will be different. “We have huge sequences where all you’re seeing is the Xenomorph. It’s driving a lot of things,” he said.

Gonzales also shared that the show’s action picks up quickly. The first episode introduces the big event and the main characters, but he said episodes two and three are even bigger. “Two used to be super massive. Now 2 and 3 are both massive,” he said. “There’s a lot of Xenomorph activity going on wall-to-wall.” He added, “One, 2 and 3 together are going to be unbelievable.”

With new creature designs, practical effects, more Xenomorphs than ever, and completely new alien life teased in the trailer, Alien: Earth looks like it’s aiming to both shock and impress long-time fans. The show premieres August 12, 2025.
