Star Wars’ Bad Batch Sails Into New Adventures This August
If you’ve been missing the Bad Batch, you’re in luck. Even though the show ended over a year ago, Clone Force 99 is back in a brand new Star Wars novel called Sanctuary that will hit shelves next month.
The story is written by Lamar Giles, who also wrote Ruin Road. The book takes place near the end of season two, after the episode “Pabu.” By then, the team, Hunter, Omega, Wrecker, and Tech, is working with the pirate hunter Phee. They are on a mission to gather supplies after a big tsunami hit their planet.
But things quickly get complicated when they end up juggling two jobs at once. One task is to steal a valuable relic from an auction to return it to its rightful owners. The other is to help a pregnant couple who are on the run. Hunter wants to keep things simple and handle one job at a time, but that’s not possible. To make things worse, an ISB agent is after the couple, and the baby could arrive any day.
Giles shared with Polygon that he wanted the novel to feel like a special episode of the show. “The feeling of an extended bonus episode where our favorite characters got exciting moments that felt fresh and familiar. I wanted it to feel like seeing old friends after some time apart amid an intense adventure,” he said.

An excerpt from the novel shows the Bad Batch trying to get the relic the regular way at the auction—but, of course, things don’t stay calm for long.
Sanctuary: A Bad Batch Novel will be available on August 5. If you want to dive into more Star Wars stories, there’s also a young adult novel coming in October called The Last Order by Kwame Mbalia. It follows Finn and Jannah in a new adventure.
