New Look at ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ Revealed as Fans Gear Up for the Epic Sequel
A fresh look at Avatar: Fire and Ash has been released by Fandango, giving fans an exciting glimpse of the next chapter in James Cameron’s groundbreaking sci-fi saga. The image in question appears to be concept art for the movie rather than footage of the actual movie or a still image.
The image showcases Pandora’s waters, teasing perhaps what we’re going to see once the movie releases.

This highly anticipated movie is the third installment in the Avatar series and follows up on 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water. James Cameron is once again directing, co-producing, and co-editing the film.
He also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, based on a story they developed with Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno. The movie is produced and distributed by 20th Century Studios.
The cast is packed with returning stars, including Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri, Stephen Lang as Colonel Quaritch, and Sigourney Weaver as Kiri. Kate Winslet also returns, along with many others from previous films.
New cast members David Thewlis and Oona Chaplin join the story, with Chaplin playing Varang, the leader of a tough clan living near volcanoes. Cameron described Varang as a character who “will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil.”
The movie continues the story of Jake Sully and Neytiri, now living with the Metkayina clan after leaving their original home. Fans will see more of the Bat-Family-like dynamics with characters such as their children, including Damian Wayne’s counterpart in the film, Lo’ak, who also narrates the story. The film explores family, loyalty, and survival, all set against the stunning world of Pandora.
Filming for Avatar: Fire and Ash began back in 2017 in New Zealand, simultaneously with The Way of Water. It took over three years to shoot, finishing in late 2020. The production faced many delays due to the complex technology needed, especially for underwater motion capture, something never done before on this scale.
The film’s release has been pushed back several times, with the latest date set for December 19, 2025.
Cameron originally wanted to make sequels if the first Avatar was successful, and since then, he’s planned up to five movies in the series. Fire and Ash is just one step in this larger vision, with two more sequels, Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, currently in various stages of production, expected to come out in 2029 and 2031.
The new look revealed for Fire and Ash shows off the breathtaking visuals fans have come to expect from Cameron’s work, promising another stunning adventure on Pandora. With familiar faces and new challenges ahead, this film aims to deliver both emotional depth and jaw-dropping spectacle. Hopefully, that underwater tech we’ve waited for so long will pay off.
