The team behind The Conjuring: Last Rites just released a short teaser announcing that the final trailer for the last movie in the franchise will be out tomorrow.

In the clip, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga talk about how emotional it was to finish this film, especially since they’ve been part of this universe for such a long time and have played on-screen husband and wife for years. Patrick Wilson said, “She is the best co-star in the business and I will deeply miss my fake wife.”

The Conjuring: Last Rites is an upcoming American supernatural horror movie directed by Michael Chaves. The screenplay was written by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.

The story is based on the real-life investigations of Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators, with the original story co-written by James Wan and Johnson-McGoldrick. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as the Warrens, joined by Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy in new roles. This film follows The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It from 2021 and is the ninth film in The Conjuring Universe. Michael Chaves directs again, and James Wan and Peter Safran come back as producers.

The movie is set to be released in the U.S. on September 5, 2025.

Before the last Conjuring movie came out in 2021, Michael Chaves told Empire magazine that he hoped the film would open up new possibilities for the Warrens’ story. He said, “What [The Devil Made Me Do It] hopefully does is open up this new chapter for the Warrens. This has a very unique ending to The Conjuring films. I would be excited to see where it could go from here.” Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga also showed interest in continuing their roles. Farmiga shared, “Oh my God, I’d love to [continue]. It’s interesting, we have to up the fear in each one. Demonology is already so high-pitched and operatic.”

In October 2022, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that a fourth Conjuring film was in the works. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick wrote the script, while James Wan and Peter Safran came back as producers. By 2024, Michael Chaves was once again confirmed as director. Later that year, Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing helped rewrite the screenplay. New cast members Ben Hardy and Mia Tomlinson were added to the lineup.

Filming took place in London from September to November 2024. Fans will notice a change in the music score, as Benjamin Wallfisch, who worked on Annabelle: Creation, replaced Joseph Bishara, the composer of the first three Conjuring films.

With the final trailer coming out tomorrow, fans are excited for The Conjuring: Last Rites to close the chapter on the Warrens’ terrifying journey.
