Netflix has pulled the plug on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s spy action show FUBAR after just two seasons. The decision came on August 1, 2025, roughly six weeks after Season 2 hit the platform on June 12, according to reports from Netflix’s announcements. The show, which leaned heavily on Schwarzenegger’s massive fame, had a big debut back in May 2023 but struggled to keep viewers hooked for its second run.

FUBAR follows Luke Brunner, played by Schwarzenegger, and his daughter Emma, played by Monica Barbaro, who both discover they’re secretly CIA operatives. They’ve been lying to each other for years, clueless about each other’s real jobs. Forced to team up on dangerous missions, they clash when Luke treats Emma like a kid or freaks out about her safety and love life.

The cast also includes Milan Carter as Barry, a CIA tech guy, Fortune Feimster as Roo, a team operative, and Fabiana Udenio as Tally, Luke’s ex-wife and Emma’s mom. Season 2 brought in Carrie-Anne Moss as Greta, a former East German spy with a romantic history with Luke, and Guy Burnet as Theo, an ex-MI6 agent with eyes for Emma.

Season 1 was a hit, topping Nielsen’s streaming charts for May 22–28, 2023, with about 11 million views in its opening weekend. But Season 2, released over two years later, tanked. It barely made Netflix’s Top 10 English-language series, scraping in at #10 with 2.2 million views from Thursday to Sunday.

It climbed to #7 the next week with 3.3 million views but fell to #10 again in week three with 1.8 million views before vanishing from the charts, per Netflix’s viewership data.Critics weren’t thrilled either. Rotten Tomatoes gave Season 1 a 51% approval rating, based on 57 reviews, with an average score of 5.4/10.

The site’s critics said, “With jokes that fall flat and a story that borrows liberally from star Arnold Schwarzenegger’s earlier career triumphs, FUBAR is just OK.” Metacritic scored it 48 out of 100 from 25 critics, calling it “mixed or average.” Season 2 did even worse, earning a 46% on Rotten Tomatoes from 13 reviews. Its consensus read, “FUBAR doesn’t mess with its formula beyond recognition in a second season that’s not without its charms but still hampered by clunky scripting.”

Metacritic gave it a 59 out of 100 based on six critics, still in the “mixed or average” zone.Despite Schwarzenegger’s star power and Barbaro’s rising fame— she earned an Oscar nod for A Complete Unknown between seasons, FUBAR couldn’t keep the momentum.

The long gap between seasons and a sharp drop in viewers sealed its fate. Netflix’s cancellation marks the end of Luke and Emma’s spy adventures, leaving fans of the action-comedy disappointed.
