Netflix Axes Four Shows This Month With More Cuts Possibly Coming
Netflix is going through another round of cancellations, and four different shows have been cut from the streaming giant’s lineup. Some of these titles had strong fan followings, while others never quite found their footing. Either way, viewers will not be seeing new seasons for most of them anytime soon.
One of the most surprising announcements came for Queer Eye. The hit makeover series, which has been running for years and made household names of the Fab Five, will wrap after its 10th season. Netflix confirmed the news on Instagram on July 9, saying, “10 seasons. Fab Five. One last go ‘round.”
The upcoming season is currently being filmed in Washington, D.C., and will mark the end of the show’s long run. Tan France, one of the Fab Five, shared his thoughts on Instagram, writing, “First day of the FINAL season of Queer Eye. It’s been a long, beautiful journey we’ve been on, and I truly appreciate all of the love and support for our little show, that changed my life in ways I never thought possible.”
His words reflected the deep connection the cast has built with fans over the years.
Another show meeting its end is The Residence, a murder mystery series starring Uzo Aduba. The series was praised by critics and received positive reviews, but it was ultimately pulled due to its high production costs. The show featured a large and talented cast, which contributed to those expenses. While it had a unique premise set in the world of political intrigue, it seems it didn’t have the cultural impact Netflix was hoping for.
Netflix’s attempt to enter the world of medical dramas also came to a halt. Pulse, the streamer’s first-ever medical procedural, won’t be returning for a second season despite pulling in some impressive numbers early on.
According to reports, the show racked up over 20.2 million views and 162.1 million total viewing hours in its first four weeks. However, there’s tough competition in the medical drama space, and Pulse couldn’t quite hold on to a large enough audience to justify continuing.
Lastly, there’s No Good Deed. This series isn’t officially canceled, but it’s not moving forward anytime soon either. TV Line reports that the show is on an indefinite hiatus. That means there’s always the possibility it could return in the future, but for now, it’s not on Netflix’s production schedule.
These cancellations come as Netflix continues to adjust its programming strategy, balancing costs with viewership and cultural impact. It’s not unusual for the streamer to pull the plug on shows quickly, even ones with decent numbers, if they don’t see long-term potential.
Fans of Queer Eye, The Residence, Pulse, and No Good Deed may be disappointed, but for Netflix, these decisions are part of a broader trend of tightening its lineup to focus on the projects it believes will bring the most value in the years ahead.
