Comedian Matt Rife and YouTuber Elton Castee have just bought one of the most famous haunted properties in America, the Warren home in Monroe, Connecticut. This is the same house that holds the real Annabelle doll, made infamous by The Conjuring movie series.

The house was once owned by legendary paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who claimed that Annabelle, a Raggedy Ann doll, was possessed by something evil. According to the Warrens, the doll terrified its original owner, a young nurse named Donna, in the 1970s.

They say it could move by itself and had a history of causing strange accidents. The Warrens eventually locked it inside a special glass case in their Occult Museum to keep it from harming anyone. Scientists and skeptics have dismissed these claims as folklore, but the story has become a huge part of horror culture.

The Conjuring movies turned Annabelle into a horror icon. In the films, she’s shown as a creepy porcelain doll with an unsettling face. Over the years, the real doll has been linked to spooky stories, including people being scratched or injured after getting too close. Whether you believe it or not, she has a long and infamous reputation.

The Warren home’s museum closed in 2019 because of zoning issues. Since then, Annabelle has only appeared on tours and special events run by the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR). Last year, the doll went on the “Devils on the Run” tour, traveling to different cities so fans could see her in person. The tour’s host, Dan Rivera, was a paranormal investigator and one of Annabelle’s handlers. Sadly, Rivera died unexpectedly in July 2025.

Now, Matt Rife and Elton Castee have stepped in to keep the home’s haunted history alive. Rife shared the news on Instagram, saying he would be the legal guardian of Annabelle and the rest of the haunted collection for at least the next five years. “If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with the paranormal and all things haunted,” he said. “The Conjuring films have always been my favorite scary movies. I’m incredibly honored to have taken over one of the most prominent properties in paranormal history.”

The pair have big plans for the property. They want to reopen the home for overnight stays and museum tours so people can experience its eerie atmosphere for themselves. Visitors will be able to learn about the Warren family’s paranormal cases, see haunted objects up close, and, if they’re brave enough, spend the night in one of the most talked-about haunted locations in the world.

Rife says the idea is to let people explore and understand the stories behind the items, not just Annabelle. He believes fans of horror and the paranormal will jump at the chance to step inside the real-life setting of so many scary tales.

With Rife and Castee now in charge, Annabelle isn’t going anywhere. In fact, it sounds like she’s about to get more visitors than ever before. Whether you’re a believer or a skeptic, one thing is certain, this haunted house is about to become a must-visit destination.
