New Poster and Synopsis for ‘Good Boy’ Hint at One of the Scariest Dog Horror Movies Ever Made
A new poster and synopsis have surfaced for Good Boy, a supernatural horror film that might just become one of the scariest dog movies ever made. Directed by Ben Leonberg in his first feature film, Good Boy tells a haunted house story from a fresh angle, through the eyes of a dog. The movie stars Larry Fessenden, Arielle Friedman, Shane Jensen, Stuart Rudin, and Leonberg’s real-life dog, Indy, who plays the main role.
The story follows Todd, played by Shane Jensen, who moves to an old farmhouse in the countryside after losing a family member. The house once belonged to his grandfather, played by Larry Fessenden. Though people say the place is haunted, Todd doesn’t believe in the rumors. But Indy, his dog, begins to see strange and spooky things that no human can notice. These are supernatural beings that only Indy can sense.
Since Indy can’t tell Todd what he’s experiencing, he has to face these scary forces alone. The haunting grows worse, and Indy’s loyalty to Todd is tested as he tries to protect his owner from these dark dangers.

The film was made independently by Ben Leonberg and Kari Fischer. One unique thing about Good Boy is how it shows the story from the dog’s point of view, with many scenes filmed from Indy’s eye level. Indy’s acting has received a lot of praise because he manages to show strong emotions without any words or special effects. The movie is about 72 minutes long and was filmed in upstate New York.
Good Boy premiered at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival on March 10 of this year, where it got very good reviews. It also played at the Overlook Film Festival and won over critics for being original and emotionally powerful while delivering real scares. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 95% positive rating based on 20 reviews.
On May 1 Shudder picked up the film’s distribution rights for countries including the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
Fans excited about Good Boy now have even more to look forward to, as a new poster for the film was recently released, hinting at the spooky and emotional journey ahead. The poster gives a strong sense of the haunted house vibe and Indy’s important role in the story.
