Jon Miyahara, known for his role as Brett on the NBC comedy “Superstore,” has passed away at the age of 83. He appeared regularly throughout all six seasons of the show, playing a quiet but memorable member of the Cloud 9 team. The cause of his death has not been made public.

The news was shared by fellow cast member Colton Dunn, who played Garrett on the show. Dunn posted on Instagram, “John was a really awesome guy and as a performer could speak volumes with just a look. He was such a memorable part of the Cloud 9 team. It was an honor to know him and work with him. I was lucky enough to meet some of his family and my thoughts are with them. Rest in Peace John.”

Other cast members also expressed their sadness. Kelly Stables, who played Kelly, said, “Oh man! He was always so sweet.” Irene White, known for her role as Carol, wrote, “What an incredible man.” Michael Bunin, who played Jeff, added, “I’m so sad to hear this news. Many fun days and many fun conversations. Very nice guy.”

Miyahara appeared in 105 episodes out of the 113 total episodes of “Superstore,” starting with the very first episode in 2015 and continuing through to the finale in 2021. His character Brett was part of a memorable storyline at the end of Season 2, where he was believed to have been caught in a tornado that hit the store.

The following season, the show paid tribute to Brett with a touching memorial scene that included a heartfelt version of Radiohead’s song “Creep,” sung by Sandra, another employee at Cloud 9.

Jon Miyahara’s quiet but powerful presence made him a favorite among fans and colleagues alike. His work on “Superstore” helped bring life to the everyday moments and friendships that made the show special. The outpouring of memories from his co-stars shows just how much he was appreciated both on and off the screen.
