MCU’s ‘Vision Quest’ Casts New Voice for F.R.I.D.A.Y.
MCU fans just got some exciting news about the upcoming Disney+ series Vision Quest. The show, which is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will bring back Paul Bettany as Vision and is set to hit the streaming service in 2026.
Vision Quest, created by Terry Matalas, is a spin-off of WandaVision and will be the 18th MCU series. It’s based on the Marvel Comics character White Vision and will connect to the wider MCU films & shows. It’s part of the same trilogy as Agatha All Along and WandaVIsion.
Matalas is not just the showrunner but is also directing, along with Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, and Vincenzo Natali. Filming started in March 2025 at Pinewood Studios in London and wrapped up by the end of July this year. The first season will have eight episodes and will be part of Phase Six.
During a panel at Star Trek Las Vegas, Terry Matalas dropped two big pieces of casting news. He revealed that Todd Stashwick will play Paladin and that Orla Brady will step into the role of F.R.I.D.A.Y., Tony Stark’s AI assistant that took over after J.A.R.V.I.S. became Vision. F.R.I.D.A.Y. was previously voiced by Kerry Condon. Matalas said working with Marvel on this project has been “a wonderfully collaborative experience.”
Orla Brady is well-known to sci-fi fans for her role as Laris in Star Trek: Picard. She’ll now be giving voice and presence to the beloved AI. The news comes alongside the return of Avengers: Age of Ultron star James Spader, who will reprise his role as Ultron. There’s even talk that Spader might appear in live action, though it’s not yet clear if that will be Ultron taking a human form or appearing as a hologram like in Ironheart.
The cast is shaping up to be impressive. Along with Bettany, Brady, Stashwick, and Spader, the show will also feature T’Nia Miller as Jacosta, an AI character from the comics who was created by Ultron to be his wife but later joined the Avengers.
Vision Quest started development back in October 2022, originally with Jac Schaeffer as head writer, but by May 2024, she had left the project and Matalas took over redevelopment. Now, with filming wrapped and a star-studded cast in place, fans are looking forward to seeing Vision back in action.
