The first real look at Final Fantasy 7 Remake running on Nintendo Switch 2 has finally surfaced.

Gamescom 2025 gave fans the chance to see about ten minutes of gameplay, captured from a live demo. While the video wasn’t direct-feed and had to be recorded off-screen, it still gave a strong sense of how the game performs on the new handheld system.

The demo showed the game entirely in handheld mode, and the results were impressive. Despite being scaled to run on the Switch 2, the visuals held up well, with only a few noticeable compromises.

Fans online pointed out that even though the footage wasn’t the clearest, the important thing was that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade ran smoothly on the device.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is more than just a simple port. Square Enix describes it as “a modern reimagining of one of the most iconic games of all time.”

The game takes players to Midgar, putting them in the middle of a story filled with memorable characters, emotional twists, and a mix of real-time and command-based combat.

The Switch 2 version will also come with FF7R Episode Intermission, a bonus story arc that takes place during the main game. This side chapter stars Yuffie, a fan-favorite character, and adds more depth to the events already unfolding.

With both the main game and the additional content included, Switch players will be able to experience the full package when it arrives.

According to those at Gamescom who tried the demo, the game feels natural on the new hardware, making use of its upgraded performance to handle action-heavy combat sequences.

The Switch 2 seems more than capable of running one of the most ambitious RPGs in recent years.

This release marks a major milestone for Nintendo’s new console, proving that it can handle blockbuster titles that were previously limited to more powerful systems. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on Switch 2 gives fans the chance to revisit Midgar or experience it for the first time in portable form.
