Fans got their first glimpse of the Weasley family on set of HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter TV series this past Sunday at London’s King’s Cross Station. Alastair Stout, 11, has been cast as Ron Weasley, taking over the role made famous by Rupert Grint in the original films.

Stout was seen filming the iconic Platform 9 ¾ scene, wearing a plaid overshirt, corduroy bell bottoms, and a thick duffel coat, reflecting the series’ 1991 setting.

Joining him were his onscreen siblings: Tristan and Gabriel Harland as Fred and George, and Gracie Cochrane as Ginny. Percy, played by Ruari Spooner, wasn’t spotted in the scenes.

The standout debut of the day, however, was Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, stepping into the role once played by Julie Walters. Parkinson, wearing a suede jacket with shoulder pads, a long skirt, and retro earrings, was seen managing her “unruly” children on set.

The Weasley family’s signature mismatched clothing was perfectly captured in the photos, showing the patchwork and erratic colors fans know and love.

As HBO’s production account shared on Instagram, “Charlie’s in Romania at the moment but will be joining us soon enough…” hinting that the family will grow even more on screen.

Some roles remain uncast, including Bill Weasley and Arthur Weasley, originally played by Domhnall Gleeson and Mark Williams in the films.

The series stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, with John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, and Nick Frost appearing in supporting roles.

Filming began on July 14, 2025, under the working title Dark Train at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the same studio where the original films were shot. Cinematographer Adriano Goldman is leading the production, and a temporary school has been built on set to accommodate up to 600 child actors.

Some early shoots took place around the Tévennec Lighthouse in Brittany, with the first official production photo released on July 14, showing McLaughlin and Frost in costume. Additional filming has occurred at the London Zoo and Borough High Street in Southwark.

The first season is expected to wrap filming by mid-2026, with work on season two beginning a few months later.
