Aaron Paul Reveals Which Breaking Bad Episode Means the Most to Him
Aaron Paul made Jesse Pinkman one of the most memorable characters on Breaking Bad. While the show followed Walter White, or Heisenberg, as he tried to fund his cancer treatment and secure his family’s future, Jesse’s story was just as complex.
Paul turned a small-time dealer into a sympathetic character who fans couldn’t help but root for, even when he made mistakes or suffered under Walt’s superiority complex. Paul’s portrayal earned him three Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, making him the first actor to win that award three times for the same role.
He appeared in all 62 episodes of the show alongside Bryan Cranston, but when it comes to favorite moments, Paul has a clear pick. Speaking to The Independent, Paul named Four Days Out, the ninth episode of season two, as his favorite.
The episode follows Jesse and Walt on a four-day cooking session in the desert. Things go wrong when Jesse accidentally drains the RV battery, leaving them stranded. “It felt like a two-man play,” Paul said, explaining that acting alongside Cranston in that episode allowed both of them to explore their characters fully.
Paul also shared his favorite scene in the series, which comes from a different episode, Buyout, in season five. “I think my favorite scene was the dinner scene between Walt, Skyler, and Jesse. That was so much fun to shoot, and whenever they yelled ‘Cut,’ all three of us would just start laughing because it was so uncomfortable,” he explained.
He recalled little details that made the scene special, like Skyler pouring nearly a full glass of wine and Jesse hiding behind his water glass like it was a security blanket. Both episodes highlight the chemistry between Paul and Cranston, which was a huge part of why Breaking Bad became such a beloved show.
Their ability to bounce off each other on screen created some of the series’ most intense and entertaining moments. Since Breaking Bad, Paul has stayed busy in both TV and film. One of his upcoming projects is the action-thriller Bear Country, which stars him alongside Russell Crowe and Luke Evans.
Outside of acting, Paul and Cranston continue to expand their premium mezcal brand, Dos Hombres. The company recently secured a $15 million investment to grow globally. Fans hoping to see more of Jesse Pinkman might be disappointed. Paul recently confirmed that his cameo in Better Call Saul was likely his last time playing the character.
