James Gunn’s rebooted DC Universe has moved at a breakneck pace since ‘Superman’ hit theaters last year, and the speculation machine around its follow-up has been running just as fast. Every casting update, set photo and stray comment from the cast gets picked apart by fans hunting for confirmation of who’s really playing who.

That speculation has been especially intense around Adria Arjona, whose role in ‘Man of Tomorrow’ has remained a tightly guarded secret since she joined the project. While trade reports initially pointed toward her playing Maxima, an alien queen from Superman’s comic book mythology, persistent rumors have suggested she could actually be stepping into the far more high-profile role of Wonder Woman.

Now Arjona’s own words are only fueling that fire further. While promoting her new action film ‘Onslaught,’ the actress detailed her grueling training regimen for the ‘Superman’ sequel in a workout video, describing a daily routine that includes roughly 45 minutes of cardio, two hours of weightlifting and six rounds of boxing, all without ever naming the character she’s preparing to play.

The physical demands Arjona described sound less like preparation for a supporting role and more like the kind of transformation reserved for a lead Amazonian warrior. Beyond the structured workout blocks, she’s also spoken previously about training two to three hours a day under a strict diet, describing muscle development she said she’d never experienced before in her career.

Arjona has also opened up about her long relationship with boxing specifically, explaining that the sport helps her stay present and has built her confidence in a way few other activities have. That kind of specificity around her physical preparation has only added to fan theories that she’s undergoing something far more demanding than what a smaller role would typically require.

Social media reaction to the training footage has been swift, with fans across platforms pointing to the sheer intensity and secrecy surrounding her preparation as evidence she couldn’t possibly be training this hard for a lesser-known character like Maxima. Whether that theory holds up once ‘Man of Tomorrow’ actually arrives remains to be seen, though DC Studios has yet to confirm any details about her role one way or another.

‘Man of Tomorrow’ follows up on 2025’s ‘Superman,’ with David Corenswet returning in the title role. Nicholas Hoult is back as Lex Luthor, and the film adds Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, continuing the expanding rogues’ gallery Gunn has been building out across the DCU’s early slate.

The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027, giving fans plenty of time to keep dissecting every hint Arjona drops between now and then. Beyond her DC commitments, Arjona has built a versatile career across film and television, with credits including ‘Andor,’ ‘Hit Man’ and ‘Father of the Bride,’ along with upcoming roles in ‘Onslaught’ and ‘The Thomas Crown Affair.’

If Gal Gadot’s version of Wonder Woman is indeed being handed off to a new actress, Arjona stepping into those boots would mark a significant shift for the character following her run across the DCEU’s ‘Wonder Woman’ films, both ‘Justice League’ releases and a cameo in ‘The Flash.’ Whoever ultimately takes on the role will inherit a considerable legacy, whether or not that person turns out to be Arjona.

For now, all anyone can do is keep watching the workout videos and parsing every word for clues. Given how tightly Gunn’s DCU has guarded its casting secrets so far, it’s unlikely fans will get a definitive answer until the studio is ready to reveal it on its own terms.

Do you think Adria Arjona is being trained to become the DCU’s next Wonder Woman?
