Jennifer Aniston just found out something about Reese Witherspoon that left her speechless. After more than 25 years of friendship, Aniston only recently learned that Reese is not actually her real first name.

The two actresses, who star together in The Morning Show and first worked side by side when Witherspoon played Aniston’s sister on Friends, appeared in a segment of LADbible’s game Do You Even Know Me? The challenge was simple: ask questions to see how well they knew one another.

Witherspoon, now 49, asked Aniston to guess her middle name, offering three choices. Aniston picked “Jane,” but Witherspoon told her the right answer was “Jeanne.” Then she added a surprise that had her co-star laughing in disbelief. “That’s confusing. I’m Laura Jeanne,” she said.

Aniston immediately reacted with shock. “Laura Jeanne? Who’s Laura? What? Who the hell’s Laura?” she said through laughter, unable to process the new revelation. Witherspoon then explained that her legal name is Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, and that she chose Reese—her mother’s maiden name—when she started acting.

Aniston even compared the name swap to Marilyn Monroe’s birth name, saying, “Oh like Norma Jeanne?” Witherspoon agreed, pointing out that she has gone by Reese professionally for her entire career, which began with her breakout role in The Man in the Moon back in 1991.

The exchange didn’t stop there. Witherspoon turned the game around and asked Aniston about her own middle name. When Aniston revealed it was Joanna, Witherspoon laughed and said, “I was today years old when I learned that. Does anybody call you J.J.?” Aniston replied no, but Witherspoon teased back, “Well, I do now.”

The playful moment reminded fans that even close friends who have shared years on and off screen can still surprise each other.
