‘Agatha All Along ‘Creator Hints at Mephisto’s Expanded Role in the MCU — Here’s Our Top Prediction for His Debut!
‘Agatha All Along’ is truly a breath of fresh air. The show focuses on a long-neglected magical and supernatural side of the MCU, and as such we can expect plenty of new characters to be introduced that will prove important for the future of magic.
One of the extremely important characters in the comics that was name-dropped in the most recent episode of the show is Mephisto.
While the show has yet to reveal a first look at Mephisto, Jennifer Kale, the potion witch, confirmed his existence in the MCU. During a conversation with the Teen, she warned him not to trust Agatha and suggested that Agatha may have sacrificed her son for the Darkhold, hinting that her son could potentially be an agent of Mephisto.
Before the show aired, fans speculated about Mephisto’s appearance or at least a reference to him, with one theory suggesting that he cast a sigil on the Teen due to a presumed deal between them.
Now Jac Schaeffer, ‘Agatha All Along’ showrunner addressed Mephisto and his potentially greater role in her most recent interview with Entertainment Weekly:
With these shows, so often there is something that is at once a joke and a wink and a nod, and actually has something legitimate underneath it.
As we all know, Mephisto is a character who’s very wrapped into Agatha’s storyline. I mean, people have to watch, but we’re always playing with the audience in that way.
This comment might be disappointing if you’ve been expecting Mephisto to appear, but fret not! Mephisto was rumored to appear in ‘Agatha All Along,’ but his first MCU debut might come in the last project you’ve been expecting – ‘Ironheart.’
‘Ironheart’ is set to focus on Riri Williams, who was described as Tony Stark’s replacement in the MCU, however, her own standalone show is described as a mix of technology, magic, and demons as a young superhero will potentially have to utilize her technical talents to combat supernatural threats.
Mephisto was rumored to appear in the show for a year up to this point, with some sources claiming that he is played by Sacha Baron Cohen.
The fact that Anthony Ramos will be portraying the villain, The Hood, who sold his soul to Mephisto further supports this theory.
