‘Agatha All Along’ Confirmed That Mephisto Exists Within the MCU
‘Agatha All Along’ recently premiered its third episode. The episode was filled with revelations. First, we finally got the confirmation that Agatha likely sacrificed her son to gain Darkhold. Second, we got the confirmation that someone intentionally placed a sigil on Teen in order to stop him from revealing his identity.
Third, Agatha likely has suspicions regarding Teen’s identity but currently doesn’t want to reveal them.
The fourth revelation was that the dreaded Mephisto exists in the MCU, and it was due time for that to happen since witchcraft and the supernatural side of the MCU are finally being explored.
Mephisto is a demon and a lord of the realm known as Hell (though not directly equivalent to the Christian Hell). His character is often compared to figures like Satan, as he embodies temptation, evil, and manipulation. Mephisto typically appears as a humanoid figure with a red skin tone pointed ears, and a devilish appearance, often featuring sharp teeth and horns.
The show still hasn’t given us a first look at Mephisto, but Jennifer Kale, the potion witch in the show confirmed that he definitely exists. When Jennifer Kale was telling the Teen that he shouldn’t trust Agatha, she also revealed that Agatha may have given up her son in exchange for Darkhold.
Jennifer also mentioned that Agatha’s son at this point could be anybody even Agent of Mephisto.
Even before the show was released, fans speculated that Mephisto would make an appearance or at least be referenced in the show. The first theory that developed was the one that claimed that Mephisto is the one that cast the sigil on the Teen since they presumably have a deal with each other.
The second theory claimed that Rio Vidal is actually Blackheart, Mephisto’s gender-bent daughter.
In the comics, Billy Maximoff was reincarnated alongside his brother Tommy by using pieces of wayward souls that belonged to Mephisto. Scarlet Witch managed to twist the evil souls and create her sons with them.
MCU might follow a similar story, with Teen either being Nicholas Scratch who Agatha presumably gave to Mephisto for Darkhold, or he could turn out to be Billy Maximoff who was brought back to life by Mephisto.
In any case, it’s exciting to have the character in the MCU and we can’t wait to see his live-action appearance.
