Alan Ritchson Faces Claims He Tried To Run Over Neighbor
Alan Ritchson is speaking out about a tense incident in his Tennessee neighborhood that went viral online. The 43-year-old Reacher star shared his side of the story with the Brentwood Police Department on March 22, saying he had to act to protect his family.
Ritchson explained that the confrontation began while he was riding motorcycles with his two young sons. He said a neighbor, Ronnie Taylor, suddenly stepped in front of his moving bike, putting them all in danger.
“In an effort to avoid hitting him, I was forced to stop so hard my bike flipped over, landing on me,” Ritchson said, adding that he hurt his elbow and thumb when the motorcycle fell. After the crash, Ritchson said Taylor approached him aggressively, as if he wanted to fight.
The actor admitted he pushed the man back to keep a safe distance from his children, who were watching the situation unfold from their own bikes. He also noted that he could smell alcohol on Taylor’s breath while the neighbor yelled at him for allegedly driving recklessly.
Ritchson said that when he tried to leave, Taylor blocked him again and shoved both him and his motorcycle to the ground. “I completely now feared for both my and my kids’ safety, having been aggressively stopped twice and assaulted by this out-of-control individual,” he said.
Authorities reviewed video footage and spoke with witnesses before making a decision. On March 25, the Brentwood Police Department announced that Ritchson would not face criminal charges. They concluded that he acted in self-defense.
Although police considered filing a reckless endangerment charge against Taylor, Ritchson decided not to press charges, effectively closing the case with the District Attorney’s agreement. Even with the neighborhood drama, Ritchson is staying busy professionally. He is set to star in the Netflix sci-fi action film War Machine alongside Dennis Quaid and Jai Courtney.
Fans can also expect the fourth season of Reacher later this year, along with a spinoff series called Neagley, starring Maria Sten. Ritchson also has a holiday project, The Man with the Bag, in the works. His packed schedule shows he remains one of the busiest leading men in Hollywood.
This incident reminds fans that even celebrities face real-life dangers close to home. Ritchson’s statement highlights that his actions were about keeping himself and his children safe, and the police confirmed that he acted appropriately.
