We are already at the end of the third month in 2023, and the superhero content is not at its peak yet. We know many big DC movies are getting released this year, but the television side is not far behind. Some of them are already airing, but besides your usual superhero live-action series like Arrowverse, animation, and new DC projects also deserve more attention. Since 2023 is a big year for DC, James Gunn is at the helm and starting to heavily reform the jaded DC Extended Universe.

We already announced DC movies that we already watched or expected in 2023, and we decided to mention TV series that will bring us more DC content on our screens. Of course, this list will include DC TV series currently airing on TV.

List of all DC shows in 2023

1. The Flash, Season 9 – currently airing

The show with the longest tenure in the Arrowverse is ending – The Flash is currently airing on CW for the last time. The journey of Barry Allen and the rest of the Team Flash will wrap up this season and has aired six episodes until today. There will be thirteen episodes in season nine, marking the end of an era.

Season nine tells us the story of Barry and Iris, their future family, and Team Flash, fighting against new foes that emerged in Central City.

Famously, the Arrowverse began with another CW show, Arrow, which brought us a spin-off series in The Flash. Slowly but surely, the Universe expanded to many TV, web, and comic book series and became one of the most-watched CW shows on television. We are doing reviews of every new Flash episode, so definitely check them out.

2. Superman & Lois, Season 3 – currently airing

Superman & Lois emerged as one of the best projects Arrowverse procured in the last few years, and in 2023, it got season three. The fans witnessed the epic fight between Superman and Ally when Kryptonian stopped merging worlds at the end of season two, and new episodes show that the excitement is still there.

The show currently has two episodes aired at the moment of writing this article, and we are analyzing each episode. If you are interested, definitely check them out.

3. Gotham Knights, Season 1 – currently airing

The new DC show that first aired in 2023 is Gotham Knights. This show follows Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, Turner Hayes, whose father was brutally killed. Turner finds solace in an unexpected place when he meets Duela and Harper and Cullen Row, runaway children who are accused of the murder of Bruce Wayne by Harvey Dent.

Turner forges an alliance with accused children, and with the help of his best friend Stephanie Brown and Carrie Kelley, Bruce’s son, he decides to discover the real truth behind his father’s death. The show currently aired two episodes.

4. Doom Patrol, Season 4 – currently airing

A popular HBO Max show, Doom Patrol, got its fourth season and is currently airing on the popular streaming platform. In January of 2023, it was revealed that Doom Patrol would not continue after the end of season four. Doom Patrol follows the reluctant heroes who gained their powers through tragic moments that distanced them from society.

Season three brought the biggest hardships for the team, especially after losing one of their members. Season four follows the team dedicating themselves to heroic acts as true superheroes and the expected Buttapocalypse. A definite must-watch for every superhero fan, especially since Doom Patrol won’t continue after season four.

5. Titans, Season 4 – currently airing Part I, will air Part 2 after.

Release date of Titans Season 4, Part II – April 13, 2023

Another DC show that will end after this season is Titans, which is currently airing on HBO Max. The show follows young DC superheroes across the universe, combining their powers and abilities to protect the world from danger.

Throughout the series, we saw Dick Grayson transitioning from Robin to Nightwing and Titans slowly but surely becoming a better team with every new threat. HBO Max is currently airing all four seasons, with part II being released in April.

6. Teen Titans Go!, Season 8 – currently airing

This cool cartoon has been one of the most popular children’s shows on television in the last decade. At first, it was a spin-off series of extremely popular Teen Titans cartoons, but it immediately established its “niche” and formula to reach its current popularity.

Teen Titans Go! follows the adventures of Teen Titans who find themselves in “sticky” and funny situations. The young superheroes mostly resolve their “problems” (that they caused themselves) and are humourous, comedic, and unhinged – there are no adults around them to set them straight. A great show that got its eighth season in 2023.

7. Sweet Tooth, Season 2

Release date: 27th of April, 2023.

One of the most underrated shows on Netflix now is a fantasy drama show called Sweet Tooth. The show is based on the comic book of the same name, released by DC Comic’s Vertigo, and is set in the post-apocalyptic society of The Great Crumble, which collapsed due to a viral pandemic known as the Sick. The disease wiped out most of the human population, leading to the birth of the mysterious hybrid babies that are part human, part animal.

Sweet Tooth is a great show that was renewed for a second season in 2021 and will get its new season on the 27th of April, 2023.

8. Harley Quinn, Season 4 – will be released in 2023

Trailer: not available

Release date: TBD, but surely season four will be released in 2023.

HBO’s Harley Quinn is one of the best-animated shows in the last few years, and it will get season four this year. The exact release date hasn’t been announced, but we expect the news soon. Animated DC content is one of the best on the market, and Harley Quinn isn’t different. The show follows the misadventures of Harley Quinn and her best friend, Poison Ivy, who eventually becomes her lover. The animated series has been praised for its quality and representation, and the new season will bring us more chaos and excitement.

Harley Quinn did get new content this year when HBO released a special episode called “A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special” on Valentine’s Day, and let me just say, it is quite graphic, in true HBO fashion.

9. My Adventures with Superman, Season 1 – will be released in 2023

Trailer: not available

Release date: TBD, but confirmed to be released sometime in 2023.

Finally, we have an upcoming DC animated series that will revolve around the Man of Steel himself, Superman. One would think that the show would bring something of the same charm of DC animation that we got used to in the last three decades, but it seems that My Adventures with Superman will have influences from Japanese animation.

Interestingly enough, more and more Western animated projects seek inspiration from anime, and it seems that the show will be similar to what the original Teen Titans did in the 2000s. The show will follow Clark, as Superman and his efforts to keep his heroic life hidden while trying to “juggle” Lois Lane and her love.

Jimmy Olsen, Clark’s best friend from the comics, will also make an appearance. My Adventures with Superman is bound to be released in 2023, but the exact date wasn’t disclosed. DC has a lot of projects stacked in 2023, and we cannot wait for them to get their full releases.
