Netflix is getting ready to say goodbye to one of its most loved comedies. After more than ten years on the platform, Arrested Development will be removed from Netflix on Sunday, March 15. The departure was confirmed through Netflix’s streaming schedule, giving fans a clear deadline to finish their rewatches.

The exit feels especially meaningful because Arrested Development played a major role in Netflix’s early history. It was one of the first shows the service helped bring back when it began moving into original programming. For many viewers, the Bluth family became closely tied to the rise of Netflix itself.

The sitcom first aired on Fox from 2003 to 2006 and ran for three seasons. Even though critics loved it, the show struggled to attract large weekly audiences. Ratings stayed low, and Fox eventually canceled it despite its loyal fan base. At the time, creator Mitchell Hurwitz said he had pushed himself hard to meet expectations and felt he could not keep delivering the same level of quality under network pressure.

For years, the show lived on through reruns and word of mouth. That changed in 2013 when Netflix stepped in and produced a fourth season. A fifth season followed later and was released in two parts, wrapping up in 2019. Together, the series ended with 84 episodes.

The show was expected to leave Netflix back in 2023, but a last-minute licensing deal with Disney kept it available longer. Now that the deal is ending, there are no signs of another extension. Fans now have only a short window left to stream the full series before it disappears.

As of February, many cast members from Arrested Development are still busy with major projects. Will Arnett is having a strong year with the release of Is This Thing On?, a Searchlight Pictures film that arrived on digital platforms on February 10.

Arnett co-wrote and produced the movie and stars alongside Laura Dern and Bradley Cooper. Alia Shawkat continues to gain attention for her role on the hit series Severance. Tony Hale remains in demand for both voice work and live-action roles across film and television.

What happens next for Arrested Development is still unclear. Since Disney owns the show, many fans believe it could resurface on Disney+ or Hulu. For now, though, Netflix viewers are counting down the days before the Bluth family leaves the platform for good.
