The begin her eventual journey into comic books, Amanda Conner attended the Kubert school in Dover New Jersey.  In the 1980’s, Amanda Conner got her first crack at the big time. During these years she was not only assigned to Archie Comics but Marvel Comics as well. While there she drew heavy inspiration from Frank Miller. In fact, to this day she still cites him as a main influence for her work as an illustrator.

For her first assignment at Marvel she was tasked with the 11 page piece, Solo Avengers #12.

The 1990’s

As the 1990’s swung into full gear, Amanda continued to build upon her momentum. She did so through her work with the Barbie line of comics and an comic book offshoot of the Disney cartoon, Gargoyles.

In 1993 and 1994, she did work for Claypool Comics in the form of Soul Searchers and Company. Further to that, she was given the opportunity to working on the increasingly possible title, Vampirella.

By 1997, she had illustrated the Event Comics crossover Painkiller Jane VS The Darkness. This title gave her the much-needed freedom to work with and illustrate a much darker tone of comics than she had previously produced. This, as we will see, became eventual foreshadowing for a little later in her career.

Gatecrasher and The Pro gives her an edge

By the 2000’s her career was in full swing. Along with fellow comic book creators Jimmy Palmiotti and Mark Waid, she created a comic book series called Gatecrasher. With Gatecrasher under her belt, she turned her attention to a collaboration with Garth Ennis and once again, Jimmy Palmiotti called The Pro.

And she was just getting started.

Conner lived many-a-fans dreams when she wasn’t able to work on Lois Lane, Birds of Prey, X-Men Unlimited, and Codename: Knockout.

And finally…

She and her now husband, Jimmy Palmiotti are currently working on the DC Comics Rebirth story for Harley Quinn.

With decades of comic book experience, Amanda Conner has caught the attention of entities outside of the comic book world. She has been talked about on ABC’s Nightline, the New York Times and even Mad Magazine.

Amanda has proven that consistency pays off and now she and her husband are taking the comic world by storm.
