Amazon “Disarms” James Bond — Here’s What’s Really Going On With 007 on Prime Video
Amazon has made a surprising change to the way James Bond films appear on Prime Video.
The streaming platform has removed guns from the key art of all Bond movies, giving the franchise a more uniform look. While the goal may have been a clean, consistent style, the results have left some iconic Bond poses looking awkward.
According to MI6 HQ who first noticed the change, some images were cropped so the gun sits just outside the frame, while others were digitally edited.
Examples include Dr. No, where Bond’s arms now look folded strangely, A View to a Kill, which stretches his arms, GoldenEye, giving a contemplative pose, and Spectre, with a shortened holster that clearly shows the absence of a gun. The classic Bond logo remains unchanged.

Fans quickly reacted on social media, and the response has been largely negative. Some joked about the absurdity of banning guns in pictures while people can carry them in real life.
Others criticized the altered poses, especially those of Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. A few posts blamed Amazon’s leadership, comparing the situation to other franchises they feel have been mishandled. “hilarious how pictures are banned from carrying firearms but a person can in the middle of the street” One fan wrote.
“I don’t know which is worse – the iconic Pierce Brosnan Bond pose with a very conspicuously empty right hand, or the Daniel Craig Bond picture with a ludicrously empty holster” added another.
Some fans are already spelling doom & gloom for the rest of the franchise. “Bezos is gonna f****” up the franchise isn’t he? Just like how Disney spoiled Star Wars and caused Marvel to go woke.“
On February 20, 2025, Amazon MGM Studios announced that it had taken full creative control of the James Bond franchise from Eon Productions.
This move makes No Time to Die the final Bond film produced under the leadership of Albert R. Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, or Barbara Broccoli.
While it’s understandable that Amazon wants a consistent look for Bond on Prime Video, removing the guns from the key art changes the iconic imagery that fans love. James Bond without a gun just doesn’t feel like Bond, and the awkward edits only highlight this. It seems like a small change, but it could affect how people perceive the franchise online.
