Amazon Prime Cancels Popular Series After Just Two Seasons—Fans Left Shocked
Amazon Prime Video has decided to end one of its superhero spin-offs, Gen V, earlier than expected.
The show first launched in 2023 and quickly built a strong following as it expanded the world of The Boys. Its second season arrived in September 2025 and has now been confirmed as the final chapter. The story wrapped up its run in the fall of 2025.
Even though the series is ending, the creators say the characters will not disappear completely. Executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg explained that parts of the story will continue in other projects within the same universe. They made it clear that fans will see familiar faces again in future shows, including The Boys Season 5 and other related spin-offs.
In a joint statement, they said, “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the ‘Gen V’ characters’ stories in ‘The Boys’ Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again.”
The series also faced a major real-life tragedy during its run. In April 2024, actor Chance Perdomo, who was part of the cast, died in a motorcycle accident.
His death had a strong impact on the production and the team later dedicated the second season to his memory. His family shared at the time, “His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest. We ask you to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother.”
While Gen V is now finished, the wider universe is still expanding. The Boys is moving toward its final season, and more spin-offs are already in development. One of them is Vought Rising, a prequel series planned for 2027. Another project, The Boys: Mexico, is also being worked on, though no release date has been announced yet.
From a viewer’s perspective, this cancellation might feel sudden, especially since the show was still gaining attention. At the same time, it’s clear the studio wants to keep the story universe connected through other series instead of stretching every spin-off for too long.
