This dialogue traces back to exclusive footage Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige debuted for fans inside Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con last month. In that footage, Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm narrates over a shot of Victor von Doom seated on a throne, describing him as someone who was always the smartest person in any room before circumstances fundamentally changed him.

That narration is significant because it confirms something fans had only speculated about previously, that Sue Storm and the rest of the Fantastic Four already have a personal history with Doom before the events of the film even begin. Rather than meeting him as a stranger, they’re grappling with someone they once knew in a different form.

The Comic-Con footage reportedly continues from there, cutting to a devastated city as Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards asks whether Victor bears responsibility for the destruction, with Doom’s own voice cutting in to declare that everyone around him has lived stolen lives. That exchange sets up a much more personal and complicated relationship between the Fantastic Four and Marvel’s next major antagonist than a typical hero-versus-villain setup would suggest.

This latest audio drop follows a broader pattern of incremental changes to the countdown clock over the past few days. Fans previously noticed a visual shift when a mysterious light began shining through the “A” logo on the same livestream, a change that preceded the first snippet of Sue’s narration becoming audible.

Marvel has leaned on this same strategy before, layering visuals and sound onto the countdown gradually rather than dropping everything at once.
