Apple TV’s New Thriller ‘Nocturne’ Reveals First Look and Premiere Date With Star-Studded Cast
Apple TV has revealed the first look at its upcoming crime drama Nocturne, along with an official premiere date. The series, which stars Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham, will arrive on Friday, October 30. The project was previously known as Lazarus before taking on its new title.
The announcement, shared by Apple TV, gives fans their first glimpse at the dark thriller, which is based on the Lars Kepler novels Lazarus and The Sandman. The 10-episode series promises a tense story filled with crime, danger, and a deadly battle between a determined detective and a dangerous killer.
Nocturne follows Jonah Lynn, played by Schreiber, a former soldier who becomes a homicide detective. After years of dealing with violent cases in Philadelphia, Jonah decides to leave the city behind and move to a small town in Western Pennsylvania in hopes of finding a calmer life.

However, his plans for peace quickly fall apart when the town becomes the target of a terrifying threat. A highly intelligent serial killer named Jurek Walter, played by Stephen Graham, returns and puts Jonah’s family and community in danger.
The situation becomes even more personal when the search for Jurek’s final missing victim leads Jonah to involve his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer, played by Zazie Beetz. The series will explore how far Jonah is willing to go to protect the people he loves while facing one of the most dangerous criminals he has ever encountered.

The cast also includes Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan, and Gary Carr, adding more familiar faces to the upcoming Apple TV drama.
The series comes from writer and executive producer Rowan Joffe, while John Hlavin serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. According to Apple TV, the show was developed as a television adaptation of Lars Kepler’s bestselling novels, bringing the story of Jonah and Jurek to a wider audience.
Behind the camera, Tim Van Patten directs the first two episodes and also serves as an executive producer. Van Patten is known for his work on major television projects, including Franklin and Masters of the Air.
Schreiber is also an executive producer on the series, while Beetz will executive produce through her production company Sleepy Poppy. The original authors of the books, Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril, are also involved as executive producers.
The production team includes Øystein Karlsen, David Rysdahl, Dorothy Fortenberry, and Niclas Salomonsson as executive producers, with Julie Herrin serving as co-executive producer. Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson executive produce for A+E Studios, while Heather Kadin, Peter Micelli, and Jack Whigham executive produce for Range Studios.
