‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Korean Poster Puts Doctor Doom Over Marvel’s Entire Roster

Marvel’s marketing machine rarely produces just one version of a poster, and the countdown to ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ is no exception. Each region gets its own artwork, and every new piece sends fans back to the same question: who’s actually standing on that battlefield? This week’s international poster is another reminder of how big this crossover really is.

The film marks the return of directors Anthony and Joe Russo to the franchise, with Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom. It’s the fifth Avengers movie, and the four before it made more than $7.7 billion at the box office. That track record explains why every poster feels like an event.

The latest piece is a new international poster with Korean text, showing Doom looming over the heroes below him. The poster also carries a notable detail: it lists December 16 as the Korean theatrical release date, while the film opens in the US on December 18. That small gap is what the artwork’s release line highlights.

The artwork is dominated by a hooded, masked Doctor Doom, towering above the frame in a murky green haze. Beneath him, the heroes gather amid smoke and debris, with Thor standing near the center and a shield-bearing Captain America figure at his side. Professor X is seated in the foreground, and a red optic blast fires across the right side of the frame.

It’s a strong visual contrast, with a single enormous villain above and a mix of Avengers, X-Men and other heroes crowded beneath him. The Marvel Studios logo and Korean title lettering give it a distinct local identity. In short, it’s the kind of poster that shows the scale without spoiling anything.

The earlier date isn’t unique to Korea. Taiwan is also getting the film on December 16, and the UK release is set for Wednesday, December 16, two days before the global opening. Meanwhile, the North American release stays on December 18, the same day as ‘Dune: Part Three’.

Korea is also a market where the franchise has serious history. The previous film, ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ drew 13.97 million admissions there. Disney Korea has also been actively promoting the film, having unveiled teaser artwork in July and a “Doom’s Arrival” poster in August.

The marketing has leaned hard on the villain from the beginning. The Korean teaser poster showed a cloaked figure in a dark temple holding a mask, and the August “Doom’s Arrival” poster put Doom in front of a green stained-glass window. The accompanying “Doom’s Judgment” trailer ended with massive dark forces rising behind him as he declared, “I am Doom.”

North American pre-sales also made noise, with the film earning $16.5 million on its first day of ticket sales. The teaser reportedly set a Disney record for views within 24 hours of its release. All of this suggests the film is on track to become one of the biggest releases of the year.

The ensemble is enormous. Downey leads as Doom, alongside Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn. The X-Men side includes Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Rebecca Romijn and Alan Cumming, with Channing Tatum also in the cast.

The official premise has heroes from three distinct universes set on a deadly collision course, facing an existential threat. That scale has fans scouring every poster for clues, and earlier concept art drew debate over characters who seemed to be missing from the lineup. Each new image reignites that conversation.

Looking further ahead, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is scheduled for December 17, 2027, so ‘Doomsday’ is only the first half of the story. If the posters are any indication, Marvel wants audiences to see Doom as the biggest threat the franchise has ever faced.
