‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Leaks Give Fans a Wild New Look at Yelena Belova and Cyclops
Marvel Studios has been fighting a losing battle against leaks all summer, and the situation surrounding ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ shows no signs of calming down.
The latest wave centers on grainy, green-tinted images pulled from merchandise that appear to show the film’s massive ensemble cast assembling for battle. Among the characters spotted in these images are Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova and James Marsden’s Cyclops, both shown in combat-ready poses that fans had not previously gotten a clear look at.
The authenticity of these leaks has been debated heavily since they first appeared, and the debate has only intensified as clearer versions continued to surface.
What has convinced many skeptics is Disney’s response, since the studio has reportedly been issuing copyright takedown notices against accounts sharing the footage, a pattern that has historically signaled genuine leaked material rather than fan made fakes.
Adding further weight to the leak’s legitimacy, a separate batch of higher quality photos emerged afterward, with at least one image reportedly matching background details from set photos taken during filming. Even so, the footage clearly shows unfinished visual effects, a reminder that everything visible represents a work in progress rather than the polished cut audiences will eventually see in theaters.
This is far from the first significant leak to hit ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ during its marketing rollout. Full ‘Spider-Man, Brand New Day’ trailers leaked twice ahead of that film’s release with only minor edits between versions, suggesting Marvel has struggled to contain unauthorized footage across multiple projects this year rather than this being an isolated incident.
Beyond the leak drama, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is shaping up to be one of the largest ensemble films the studio has ever attempted, pulling together heroes from three distinct timelines to face Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor Von Doom. Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, and Vanessa Kirby round out a lineup that also brings back Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Rebecca Romijn from the earlier X-Men film era.
The Russo Brothers return to direct after their work on ‘Avengers, Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers, Endgame,’ with the film currently scheduled for a December 18 release. Its sequel, ‘Avengers, Secret Wars,’ is set to follow roughly a year later on December 17, 2027.
With an official trailer still nowhere to be found outside of that single CinemaCon screening, these unauthorized glimpses may end up being the clearest look fans get at several of these characters for months to come. Whether Marvel finally releases the real trailer soon or continues letting leaks do the marketing for them remains to be seen.
