‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Team-Ups Leak Through Marvel Snap, Pairing Gambit With Shang-Chi and Sam Wilson With Nightcrawler
The ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ team-ups were always going to be one of the biggest talking points of Marvel’s next crossover. The studio set the tone early, spending more than 5 hours on a livestream to announce that production had begun and to reveal its first batch of cast members. By the end, a 27-person ensemble had been confirmed.
That ensemble is a collision of Marvel’s biggest corners. The film is set to reach theaters on December 18, 2026, with Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, the Russo brothers directing, and a cast that puts the X-Men and the Avengers on the same screen. With so many heroes crowded into one story, the real question has become who actually shares a scene with whom.
Now a video game may have supplied a few early answers. A datamine of unreleased ‘Marvel Snap’ files surfaced a full ‘Doomsday’ card set, tracked by the site SnapComplete and now spreading through Reddit’s Marvel spoiler board.

The cards that stand out are the duos. Gambit is paired with Shang-Chi, Sue Storm with Namor, and Reed Richards with Beast. Upcoming card listings also include a Sam Wilson and Nightcrawler card, and the list now making the rounds adds M’Baku with The Thing to round out 5 pairings.
Several of these match up neatly with the confirmed cast. Winston Duke is playing M’Baku, Channing Tatum is Gambit, Vanessa Kirby is Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach is The Thing, Simu Liu is Shang-Chi, and Tenoch Huerta Mejía is Namor. On the other side of the ledger, Kelsey Grammer is returning as Beast and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler.
It is worth stressing that none of this is an official plot breakdown. These are datamined card names from a mobile game, and nothing here has been confirmed as an actual scene in the film.
Some of these pairings already had a little real-world smoke behind them. Kelsey Grammer has said that Reed Richards will cross paths with his fellow genius Beast at some point in the film, and that he shares a scene with Downey’s Doctor Doom. A ‘Marvel Snap’ card pairing Mister Fantastic with Beast fits that picture.
Nightcrawler’s inclusion is just as intriguing. In a BuzzFeed UK interview, Alan Cumming joked that he was learning stunts for a fight scene and was told he would be hitting Pedro Pascal on the head. Inverse noted that he may have been spinning a hypothetical, but if the remark was real, it could hint at the Avengers and the X-Men clashing before they face the main villain.
Sam Wilson’s side of the equation makes sense on paper too. The post-credits scene in ‘Thunderbolts*’ confirmed that he has been tasked with assembling a new Avengers lineup. A card putting him alongside a mutant teleporter suggests his team may not be limited to the usual suspects.

The card set is not the only merchandise-adjacent hint circulating. A reported LEGO leak describes a Sentinel Robot battle set featuring Thor, Magneto, Mister Fantastic, Mystique, Nightcrawler, and another Doctor Doom minifigure, with Doom appearing to be aligned with the Sentinels. The same report cautions that the actual plot details remain unconfirmed.
Together, the card pairings and the toy leak paint a picture of a film that scrambles its heroes into unexpected combinations. Whether those combinations survive contact with the final cut is another matter entirely.
If the schedule holds, fans will not have long to wait for the game side of this. The ‘Marvel Snap’ December season, titled ‘Doomsday: Unleashed’, runs from December 1 to January 4, with Doctor Doom as the Season Pass card and Gambit & Shang-Chi as the Super Premium card. That timing lines up closely with the film’s theatrical debut.
For now, the safest read is that these duos are intriguing hints rather than gospel. Marvel has kept its plot tightly wrapped, and the real answers will arrive on the big screen.
