‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Will Give Beast a Major New Look After ‘The Marvels’ Cameo, Details Revealed
Kelsey Grammer’s Beast is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Doomsday, but fans should expect a very different version of the character compared to his surprise appearance in The Marvels.
The mutant scientist made his MCU debut during the post-credits scene of The Marvels, where audiences saw Grammer once again playing Dr. Hank McCoy. However, new details suggest that Marvel Studios is changing Beast’s visual design for his next appearance, bringing him closer to the classic comic book version that many fans know.
The new look was revealed through concept art shared by former Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park. The artwork features several major characters expected to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, including Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, and the returning X-Men characters.

Among the lineup is Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, showing a design that looks much closer to his famous comic book appearance. Instead of wearing the white lab coat and glasses seen in The Marvels, this version of Hank McCoy appears without a shirt, showing off his large blue fur-covered body.

The change is a major difference from Beast’s brief MCU introduction. In The Marvels, fans saw him inside what appeared to be an X-Men research facility. The character was dressed as a scientist, wearing a white coat and glasses while helping Monica Rambeau after she was transported to another universe.
The new Avengers: Doomsday design appears to focus more on Beast’s superhero side rather than his role as a scientist. It also matches the style of the other X-Men characters revealed for the film, who are expected to wear outfits inspired by their most recognizable comic book looks.
The concept art shows the X-Men team embracing their classic designs, including Cyclops wearing his famous blue and yellow costume and Mystique appearing in her traditional white outfit. Beast’s more physical appearance suggests Marvel may want to highlight his strength and fighting abilities when he finally joins the larger crossover.
This will mark Grammer’s third appearance as Beast after first playing the character in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand before returning nearly two decades later in The Marvels. While his previous versions have shown both his intelligence and his abilities in battle, Avengers: Doomsday could give audiences the biggest version of Beast yet.
The connection between The Marvels and Avengers: Doomsday could also become an important part of the story. Beast’s appearance in the post-credits scene introduced a new universe connected to the X-Men, and that reality could be where the mutant team in Doomsday comes from.
Monica Rambeau’s arrival in that universe may also play a key role if the character returns. Her connection to both worlds could help explain how the X-Men become involved with the Avengers and other heroes during the upcoming multiverse conflict.
: Are you excited to see Kelsey Grammer’s Beast with a more comic-accurate design in Avengers: Doomsday?
While Marvel has not revealed exactly how Beast will fit into the story, his new design hints that the character will have a much bigger role than his short appearance in The Marvels. With the X-Men finally joining the Avengers in the same movie, Beast’s return could be one of the most exciting parts of the massive crossover.
