Marvel Studios has never been shy about giving fans a reason to head back to theaters, and this fall, that reason comes wrapped in nostalgia. With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ looming on the December calendar, the studio has spent months building anticipation for the Russo Brothers’ next mega-crossover.

Part of that campaign has involved something unexpected: bringing one of the MCU’s biggest films back to the big screen before the new one even arrives. Since the announcement first broke earlier this year, fans have been waiting for concrete details on what exactly this re-release would look like and when they’d actually be able to see it.

Now the wait for information is over. The first teaser for ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore‘ has arrived, and tickets for the re-release officially go on sale tomorrow, giving fans their first real look at the retitled version of the 2019 blockbuster before it returns to theaters.

‘Endgame Encore’ is set to hit theaters worldwide on September 25, landing about twelve weeks ahead of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’s’ December 18 release. The timing lines up deliberately, positioning the re-release as a direct bridge between the two films and a fresh opportunity for Marvel to reconnect audiences with the Multiverse Saga before Doctor Doom’s live-action debut.

This isn’t simply the original cut playing in theaters again. According to reporting on the rollout, the re-release includes a custom introduction, additional new footage, and a special end tag exclusive to premium formats, giving longtime fans a genuine incentive to revisit a film many have already seen multiple times. Runtime listings from AMC Theatres have the new cut clocking in at 185 minutes, about four minutes longer than the original film’s already-lengthy runtime.

The re-release is being marketed under Disney’s newly launched “Infinity Vision” banner, a premium large-format screening standard the studio introduced earlier this year specifically for this rollout and for ‘Doomsday’ itself. For a screen to earn Infinity Vision certification, it needs to meet a set of technical requirements, including a minimum width of 45 feet and immersive sound systems like Dolby Atmos, ensuring the presentation matches the scale fans expect from a Marvel tentpole.

Standard theaters will still show the new introduction and additional footage, but the exclusive end tag is reserved specifically for Infinity Vision and IMAX screenings, giving premium-format audiences one more reason to spring for the upgraded ticket. It’s a strategy that mirrors how Marvel has handled previous theatrical events, using exclusive bonus content to drive repeat viewings and premium-format bookings.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ remains one of the highest-grossing films ever made, having pulled in nearly $2.8 billion worldwide during its original 2019 run. Bringing it back to theaters, even briefly, gives Marvel a low-risk way to remind audiences of the emotional stakes tied up in Robert Downey Jr.’s surprising return to the franchise, this time as the villainous Doctor Doom in ‘Doomsday.’

Whether the new footage teased in ‘Endgame Encore’ offers direct narrative connections to ‘Doomsday’ or simply serves as connective marketing tissue remains to be fully confirmed. Either way, Marvel is clearly betting that six years of distance, combined with genuine new content, will be enough to pull fans back into theaters ahead of one of the studio’s most anticipated releases in years.

With tickets going on sale tomorrow and a full trailer likely to follow soon after, anticipation for both ‘Endgame Encore’ and ‘Doomsday’ shows no signs of slowing down. A
