Awdo Awdo Steps Into Character in New Behind-the-Scenes Video From ‘One Piece’ Season 3
Casting announcements for Netflix’s live-action “One Piece” have become something of an event unto themselves, with each new addition drawing intense scrutiny from a fanbase deeply invested in how faithfully the series adapts its beloved source material. That anticipation has only grown as the show pushes deeper into one of the manga’s most iconic arcs.
Netflix’s live-action adaptation has spent the past several months steadily filling out its expanded cast for Season 3, which brings the Straw Hat Pirates into the Alabasta arc and its sprawling cast of Baroque Works agents. Among the newest additions to join the production is Awdo Awdo, cast as one of the arc’s most formidable villains.
Awdo has now shared a personal video filmed on set, introducing himself and his character directly to fans ahead of the season’s eventual release. In the clip, the actor confirms he’ll be playing Daz Bones, better known by his Baroque Works codename Mr. 1, marking one of the more physically imposing additions to the show’s growing roster of adversaries.
In the source material, Mr. 1 serves as the highest-ranked male officer agent within Baroque Works, the secretive organization run by Sir Crocodile as it works to destabilize the desert kingdom of Alabasta. He’s a proficient hand-to-hand combatant who possesses the Dice-Dice Fruit, a Devil Fruit ability that allows him to turn any part of his body into razor-sharp steel blades, making him one of the more visually striking fighters the Straw Hats encounter throughout the arc.
Awdo joins the cast alongside fellow newcomer Daisy Head, known for her work in “Shadow and Bone” and “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” who has been cast as Miss Doublefinger, Mr. 1’s partner and the second-highest-ranking female officer within Baroque Works. Together, the two characters function as key enforcers under Joe Manganiello’s Mr. 0, or Sir Crocodile, deepening the season’s central conflict as the Straw Hats become entangled in Alabasta’s political turmoil.
Mr. 1 and Miss Doublefinger join a rapidly expanding list of Baroque Works characters confirmed for the season, including Cole Escola as the flamboyant Mr. 2, also known as Bon Clay. Returning Season 2 cast members Mikaela Hoover, Joe Manganiello, Lera Abova and Sendhil Ramamurthy have all been promoted to series regulars for the third installment, reinforcing just how central this arc’s antagonists are to the season’s overall structure.
The core Straw Hat crew remains intact heading into Season 3, with Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero and Taz Skylar all reprising their roles as Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji, respectively. Charithra Chandran also returns as Princess Vivi, whose homeland forms the backdrop for the season’s central conflict against Crocodile and his agents.
According to Netflix, production on Season 3 has officially wrapped following filming in Cape Town, South Africa, with the Straw Hats cast recently gathering to deliver a special dispatch video from the set marking the occasion. That milestone puts the series firmly on track toward its eventual release, even as specific plot details for the season remain largely under wraps.
With Baroque Works agents like Mr. 1 stepping further into the spotlight, Season 3 appears positioned to deliver one of the live-action adaptation’s most action-heavy and antagonist-driven chapters yet.
