The source material driving this final chapter comes straight from the books that inspired the series in the first place. Season 5 is based on Volker Kutscher’s novel The March Fallen and will end in 1933, the year Hitler finally took power, closing the loop on the “Gereon Rath Mysteries” literary series the show has adapted from the start.

At the center of it all remain the two characters who have carried ‘Babylon Berlin’ since 2017.
