Bandai Just Gave Fans Their Best Look Yet at Doctor Doom, Thor and Captain America Ahead of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
San Diego Comic-Con has turned into more than just a trailer event this year. With ‘Avengers Doomsday’ still months away, toy companies have been racing to unveil their own slice of the film, giving fans a steady stream of costume reveals and character designs well before the movie ever hits theaters.
Merchandise has quietly become one of the best ways to piece together what audiences can expect on screen, especially for a film that Marvel has kept unusually tight-lipped about. Between costume displays on the convention floor and premium collectibles from multiple toy lines, this year’s rollout has given fans more concrete visual information than almost any trailer so far.
The latest addition comes from Bandai, whose Tamashii Nations brand has unveiled its S.H.Figuarts lineup for ‘Avengers Doomsday,’ featuring six-inch scale figures of Doctor Doom, Thor, and Captain America. It is one of the clearest looks yet at how these three characters will actually appear when the film arrives in theaters.
The Doctor Doom figure leans into the character’s new on-screen presence as the film’s central threat, built with interchangeable crossed arm parts to recreate his signature pose. The figure also includes a wired cape and swappable wrist pieces, giving collectors a wide range of posing options for a villain Marvel has been building up as the face of the entire crossover event.
Thor’s figure highlights his latest costume from the film, complete with Mjolnir featuring cracked detailing worked into the paint job. Pairing it with Stormbreaker opens up even more scene possibilities, continuing a design lineage fans have tracked since Chris Hemsworth’s character first picked up the reforged hammer.
Captain America rounds out the trio, this time built around Anthony Mackie’s version of the hero rather than the classic Steve Rogers design. The figure comes with his signature shield along with a full set of wing parts, allowing collectors to recreate both grounded combat scenes and the character’s aerial fighting style introduced since he took up the mantle.
Both the Doctor Doom and Captain America figures are set for release in December, retailing at 100 dollars and 150 dollars respectively, while Thor is also expected in December at a 90 dollar price point. That timing lines up almost perfectly with the film’s own theatrical release, giving fans the option to own these designs right around the same time they see them play out on screen.
This wave from Bandai is only one piece of a much larger toy rollout tied to the film. Hasbro has already teased its own Marvel Legends line featuring Thor, Doctor Doom, and Steve Rogers, while Hot Toys unveiled premium 1/6 scale figures spotlighting Doctor Doom and members of the X-Men at the Sideshow booth. Iron Studios also entered the mix with statues of its own, giving collectors an unusually wide range of price points and detail levels to choose from.

For a film that has largely kept its cards close to the chest, this steady drip of merchandise has become one of the more reliable ways fans are piecing together its visual identity. Between costume reveals on the show floor and figures like these from Bandai, ‘Avengers Doomsday’ is shaping up to be one of the most thoroughly previewed blockbusters of the year without a full trailer ever spelling everything out.
‘Avengers Doomsday’ arrives in theaters on December 18, giving collectors and moviegoers alike plenty of time to study every detail Marvel has let slip so far.
