‘Baywatch’ 2026 Stars Bring Nostalgia Back With Iconic Red Swimwear Group Shot
Filming for the new Baywatch is finally happening, and the first look at the cast is already getting attention. On March 18, several of the show’s stars were seen on a beach in Los Angeles, wearing the famous red swimwear that made the original series so popular.
The cast posed together in the sand with a clapper board, marking the official start of filming. It was a simple moment, but it confirmed that the reboot is no longer just talk and is now in full production.
The show has been in development for a while. Fox gave it a 12-episode order back in September 2025, and now everything is moving forward. The new version will keep the beach setting and rescue action, but will focus more on a younger team of lifeguards.

At the center of the story is Hobie Buchannon, a name fans will recognize. This time, he is no longer the kid from the original show. He is now in charge. According to Variety, the story follows his new life as a leader and the personal challenges that come with it.
The outlet explains, “The wild child Hobie Buchannon we all loved from the original series is now a Baywatch captain, following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch.” His story takes a turn when someone unexpected shows up.
The same report adds, “Hobie’s world is turned upside down when Charlie, the daughter he never knew, shows up on his doorstep, eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy and become a Baywatch lifeguard alongside her dad.”
The show also brings back a familiar face from the past to connect the old and new stories. As described in the synopsis, “OG heartthrob Cody Madison now runs The Shoreline, the unofficially official Baywatch bar-and-grill, and still puts on the red trunks for the occasional shift saving lives.” He acts as both a friend and a mentor to the new team.
Leading the cast is Stephen Amell, who plays Hobie. He is known for his role in Arrow, and this project shows him taking on a different kind of character. Alongside him, the cast includes Jessica Belkin, who plays Charlie, as well as Hassie Harrison and Noah Beck.
Shay Mitchell joins the series after staying busy with projects like Pretty Little Liars and You. She has also been focused on her travel brand, BÉIS. This new role adds another big title to her career.
This reboot comes at a time when many networks are bringing back well-known shows. Baywatch is still one of the most-watched series ever, so it is a big project for Fox. The goal is to keep the same beach vibe and rescue scenes, but update the story for today.
Filming will continue in California over the next few months. More updates about the show, including trailers and extra cast details, are expected soon as the release date gets closer.
