‘Beauty in Black’ Fans Want Answers on What Really Happens to Charles and Body

Tyler Perry’s steamy Netflix drama ‘Beauty in Black’ has never been shy about killing off characters without warning, and that reputation is exactly why so many viewers spent weeks convinced that Charles Bellarie had been blown up in his own Lamborghini. Between the exploding car, a kidnapping storyline involving Kimmie’s sister Sylvie, and a mysterious enforcer known only as Body, Part 1 of Season 2 left fans with more questions than answers.

Now that Part 2 has aired, the mystery around who lived and who didn’t has finally been cleared up. Here is everything confirmed so far about Charles and Body’s fates in ‘Beauty in Black.’

Charles Bellarie’s Fiery Car Explosion Explained

Part 1 ended with Charles’ yellow Lamborghini getting shot at and set ablaze in a shocking cliffhanger, leaving his fate uncertain for months. Charles Bellarie is revealed to be alive in Beauty in Black Part 2 after surviving the dramatic explosion in Part 1.

Charles resurfaces when Varney is at his house to pick up some things for the funeral, which confirms that he is alive. His sudden reappearance also comes with urgency attached, since he is urgently called upon to stop a crucial marriage.

The explanation behind the attack turns out to be far more personal than fans expected. It is revealed that Charles’ car was stolen and he was drugged prior to the attack, and the thief turns out to be a stripper from the club where Charles is a regular. At the time of the attack, that stripper was actually in the car, and he ultimately died instead of Charles, which explains why so many viewers were led to believe the wrong person had perished.

This twist fits neatly into the chaos that has surrounded Charles throughout Season 2. According to Forbes, the stripper who attempted to rob Charles was named Dustin, tying the car explosion directly back to the earlier home invasion storyline.

Charles Bellarie’s Body Count Keeps Climbing

Even before the car explosion cliffhanger, Charles had already established himself as one of the most dangerous members of the Bellarie family. Charles found himself running into trouble multiple times in Season 2, and after a group of club employees attempted to rob him, he pulled out a gun and killed all of them.

That violent streak set up the infamous mid season finale moment that had social media buzzing. Charles shoots and kills more people, then asks for Varney’s help in handling the situation, and Varney walks in on Charles trying to dismember and dispose of the bodies.

Critics were quick to point out just how unexpected this turn was for the character. Ready Steady Cut described the scene as one that plays out with a preposterous excess, as Charles is found chainsawing through corpses in his tastefully appointed ensuite bathroom.

In the final scene of Season 2, Part 1, Varney arrives at Charles’ mansion and discovers him attempting to dismember bodies with a chainsaw, and when Varney demands to know what he is doing, Charles insists he has no choice. It is a stunning descent for a character who started the series as little more than a spoiled heir, and it raises serious questions about how much longer he can avoid the fallout from his actions.

What Happens to Body After the Kidnapping Storyline?

Body’s arc in ‘Beauty in Black’ centers entirely on the kidnapping of Kimmie’s sister Sylvie, and that decision ultimately seals the character’s fate. Body, who kidnapped Kimmie’s sister Sylvie, most likely dies in Beauty in Black Part 2 after a confrontation with Kimmie.

The setup for that confrontation actually happened right at the close of Part 1. At the end of Part 1, Kimmie takes a bold stand by ramming her car into Body, refusing to bow to intimidation, and that single act of defiance becomes the turning point for the character heading into the second half of the season.

Multiple outlets covering the aftermath describe the outcome in nearly identical terms, though with a note of caution about the character’s ultimate status. Body faces a dramatic confrontation in Beauty in Black Part 2, and she seems to have died in the show. The phrasing across sources suggests that while Body’s death is heavily implied, the show does not necessarily linger on an unambiguous, definitive send off for the character.

Kimmie’s willingness to physically ram her car into Body says a great deal about how far her vengeful streak has come. The focus in Part 2 shifts toward Kimmie’s vengeful mission to rescue her sister and target everyone involved in Sylvie’s kidnapping, and Body’s downfall is really just the first domino in that revenge arc.

Kimmie and the Bellarie Family Fallout

Charles and Body are far from the only characters whose fates have been debated by fans this season. No, Kimmie does not die in Beauty in Black Season 2, which will come as a relief to viewers who feared the worst for the show’s central protagonist.

The wider Bellarie family drama has only escalated around her. The season follows the aftermath of Kimmie marrying her former client Horace and taking on the mantle of COO, much to the shock of Horace’s children, who thought inheriting the family business would be their birthright. That includes tension with Horace’s sons Roy and Charles, his shady brother Norman, and his resentful ex wife Olivia.

Horace himself remains a wildcard heading into the rest of the season. As of the final episode of Season 2, Part 1, Horace is still alive, with the Bellarie patriarch in Italy undergoing experimental cancer treatment. Meanwhile, cast member Crystle Stewart offered a preview of just how far her character’s rivalry with Kimmie will go, telling Netflix’s Tudum that Mallory does not do nice for very long, since it is more of a tactic than a personality trait, and once Mallory realizes Kimmie is not impressed or intimidated, that mask will slip fast.

With Charles surviving one near miss after another and Body’s storyline seemingly closed out in blood, ‘Beauty in Black’ has proven once again that no one in the Bellarie orbit is ever truly safe. Do you think Charles will finally face consequences for his growing body count, or is Kimmie about to become the most dangerous person in the family?
