Bella Ramsey Reportedly Being Eyed For An MCU Role

Bella Ramsey, who many know from The Last of Us, might soon join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to industry insider Daniel Richtman. This would be a huge step in their career, adding to their already impressive list of roles.
Ramsey first got attention for playing Lyanna Mormont in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones from 2016 to 2019. It was their first credited role, and fans quickly noticed how powerful and confident their character was. Critics also praised them, with The Hollywood Reporter calling Ramsey “season 6’s breakout star.” They continued to shine in the seventh and eighth seasons of the show.
After Game of Thrones, Ramsey took on the lead in the TV version of The Worst Witch in 2017, playing Mildred Hubble. They won the Young Performer award at the British Academy Children’s Awards in 2019 for this role. Later on, the character was played by another actor, Lydia Page, in the show’s final season.
Ramsey also lent their voice to the main character in Netflix’s animated series Hilda in 2018. This role earned them a BAFTA award in 2019 for Best Children’s Animation, alongside the team behind the show. The series also showcased Ramsey’s singing skills with their song “The Life of Hilda” released in late 2020. They came back to voice Hilda in a special movie, Hilda and the Mountain King, which came out in 2021.
In 2021, Ramsey was cast as Ellie in HBO’s adaptation of the popular video game The Last of Us. This role put them in the spotlight again, especially alongside Pedro Pascal, another Game of Thrones star. Their performance earned them a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2023.
Ramsey had considered pulling out because of the lack of non-gendered categories in the awards but decided to stay after talking with showrunner Craig Mazin. They didn’t want limited language to stop non-binary performers from being celebrated. Ramsey’s nomination was significant because it was the second time a non-binary actor was nominated, and the first time in a leading role.
In September 2023, Ramsey was named on Time’s 100 Next list, a big recognition for up-and-coming influential people. Fellow non-binary actor Emma D’Arcy praised Ramsey, calling them “an inspiring figure in the LGBTQIA+ community.”
