10 Undeniable Reasons The Black Panther Movie Will Be Marvel’s Best

The Black Panther movie is upon us and I for one, can’t wait. I’ve sat back and analyzed all the reasons I find myself excited and I’m proud to say that they are too many to count. What I have done, however, is assembled a list of the ones that stand out. Without saying too much more, here are 10 reasons the Black Panther movie will be Marvel’s best.

1. Chadwick Boseman

Chadwick Boseman

The guy can act. Period.

  • 42
  • Get On Up
  • Civil War
  • And the list continues to grow

The world rejoiced after he was cast as the titular hero and after his outing in Civil War, that same world screamed in anticipation for his next appearance. He’s mild-mannered, quiet, and shy and each of these perfectly exemplifies the demeanor required to be the Black Panther. Chadwick Boseman is the perfect casting choice for T’Challa and the release of the Black Panther movie will more than show you why.

2. Rich history in Marvel

Fantastic Four 52

Black Panther first appeared in Fantastic Four #52 and has been a mainstay in the Marvel Universe since. He has carried his weight during solo outings, held his own as a member of various teams, and shown exactly what it means to be a hero 100% of the time.

His vision, loyalty to his friends, and lethal fighting styles show exactly why he has stood the test of time and to this day, remains a marvel constant. He has survived the 60’s, enjoyed the 70’s, kept clear of the mullet-themed 80’s, stayed humble in the angst-filled 90’s, ignored the bubblegum of the 2000’s, and in the 2010’s, reminds his fans of just how good he is. How he survived the various decades should be enough to prove the Black Panther movie will be the best Marvel movie, but there’s more.

3. Ties into every facet of the MCU

Marvel Studios

The MCU has many things that act as the glue that holds it together, with the Avengers, of course, being the most prominent. I ask you, what about Wakanda? Wakanda made its first appearance in Iron Man 2 as a blip on a map and further appeared in Avengers Age of Ultron after the group realized that Ultron was after the Vibranium it houses.

What about Wakanda. Isn’t Wakanda the actual glue holding the MCU together? When Captain America dies, Iron Man retires, Thor retreats to Asgard, and a new cast and crew are set to take the lead, Wakanda will still be there. So too, will the Black Panther.

4. Vibranium

Vibranium Captain America Shield

Speaking of Vibranium…Wakanda is the world’s only source of it. The rarest of the metals, Vibranium is good for practically everything. In fact, I bet that it could be used to teach pigs how to fly. Well, maybe not, but you’ll  remember it as the material that Captain America’s shield is said to be made from in Captain America: The First Avenger.

Wars are started over Vibranium and stopped by it. Men die trying to get it and others die trying to protect it. Ultron thirsted for it and the Age of Ultron movie revolved around it.

Ulysses Klaue (who’s set to play the lead villain in the movie) knows of its value and you can bet that this movie, like others before it, will centralize itself around it. Personally, I can’t wait to see how it plays itself out.

5. Winter Soldier appearance

Winter Soldier

Whether you’re a Winter Soldier fan or not, you should be pretty excited that he may make an appearance in the movie. He is, as it stands, uncredited in the movie but that doesn’t mean that he won’t appear.

Remember, at the end of Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther turns to Steve to assure him Bucky will be alright. Bucky plunges into suspended animation, the camera pans over and the audience receives a beautiful shot of Wakanda. I jeer in excitement if an explosion occurs and Bucky is set loose.

Could Bucky turn the tide of war in the Black Panther movie?

6. A royal story

Black Panther Throne

More than anything before it, this will be a royalty story. After the death of T’Chaka in Captain America: Civil War, T’Challa takes the throne of Wakanda. He is now sworn, at all costs, to protect its secrets and people. We know that Man-Ape and Erik Killmonger will be in the movie. Most likely, both will vie for the throne and both will stop at nothing to sit on it.

Will the movie follow the pressures of deciding if the people are more important than the country? Or will it create a perception that the people will come and go, it is the country that will always stand strong?

Having never seen any royalty (Asgard doesn’t count) on the big screen, it will be interesting to see how Marvel decides to incorporate it into their universe.

7. Technologically superior to other parts of MCU

Wakanda Technology

It’s a matter of opinion but mine states that Wakanda is the most technologically advanced place that the Marvel Universe has to offer. In saying that, what does the Black Panther movie have in store for us?

If the trailer teaches the audience anything, it’s that the answer to my question is…a lot. Forget Iron Man and Tony Stark. Forget Asgard. Even forget The Collectors collection. Wakanda can and will easily beat them all in terms of knowledge, technology, and the application of both.

I fully expect a big, booming metropolis, with skyscrapers as high as the eye can see. The city will house some of the most amazing architecture, and wealth the world has ever seen…and this is only the beginning. Imagine what will happen once the depths of Wakanda have been explored?

8. Lesser known characters will shine

Man-Ape

Thus far, we have watched as Captain America took his rightful spot as the leader of the Avengers, Thor ascended to Asgard, and Iron Man took over popular culture. Black Widow became a name synonymous with what it means to be a strong female, and the Incredible Hulk still continued to smash.

In Black Panther, the world will get to see a set of heroes and villains that most won’t be familiar. And you know what? That’s perfectly fine by me.

The catacombs of Marvel are deep and long and in truth, we have only brushed the surface of what it holds. Aside from the Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel has seemed reluctant to introduce us to lesser known characters. With the release of Black Panther, this will instantly change for the better.

Man-Ape
Erik Killmonger
Ulysses Klaue
Nakia
T’Chaka

And the list goes on.

9. A place we’ve never been

Wakanda

There is certain mysticism in the air when traveling to a place you’ve never been before. We felt it when we were taken back to 1941 in the first Captain America outing, experienced it as we rode along with Tony Stark in the desert in Iron Man, breathed it in as we jumped to the Astral Plane in Dr. Strange, and now, as we embark to unchartered territory in Wakanda, we will undoubtedly be at a loss for words.

With travel comes anticipation. With anticipation comes excitement. And with excitement comes experience. As humans, we yearn for an experience. The Black Panther movie will deliver.

10. The colors of the wind

Wakanda Jungle

If Guardians of the Galaxy has taught us anything, its to expect the unexpected.

The Marvel Universe is lush. From the aforementioned Guardians of the Galaxy and Dr. Strange, there is no shortage of beauty within it. I fully expect Wakanda to shine more than these two combined.

I don’t think I’m alone.

After seeing the richness of color and diversity of the people in the trailer, this movie can’t possibly disappoint. The greens are the greenest we’ve ever seen, the reds are hues typically reserved for the sun, and the blues, well the blues are usually reserved for the deepest parts of the ocean. These colors and more will be on full display and the artist within me can’t wait.

These are only 10 of the countless reasons the Black Panther movie will be the best Marvel outing to date. I’d love to hear your reasons in the comments below.

Cheers,

Joel
