Brad Pitt Reveals the One Film He Thought Was Truly Abysmal
When Brad Pitt was just twenty-two, he sat down with Tiger Beat and shared his big dreams for the future. He imagined having kids, whom he jokingly called Brad Jrs., and hoped to reach the level of stardom of actors like Kevin Costner.
“I want to be an actor who moves people the way my favorite films moved me,” he said, showing early signs of the ambition that would define his career. Pitt also knew he wanted to be more than just an actor.
He dreamed of running his own production company, an idea he brought to life in 2001 with the launch of Plan B Entertainment. By the time he turned thirty-two in 1996, he had already become one of Hollywood’s most respected leading men.
Interestingly, his first Oscar came not for acting but for producing 12 Years a Slave in 2014, followed by his acting Oscar in 2020 for his performance as Cliff Booth in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Over the years, Pitt has shared his love for films that have inspired him, mentioning favorites like Deadpool and the spy thriller Three Days of the Condor. But when it comes to a movie he truly has strong feelings about, it’s William Friedkin’s 1973 horror classic, The Exorcist.
Pitt admires the original theatrical cut but was highly critical of the later director’s cut. He didn’t like the modernized soundtrack or the digital sound effects, calling the changes abysmal. “Why would you mess with something that was already nearly perfect?” he asked, emphasizing that the raw impact of the original film could never be replaced.
Right now, Pitt is in the middle of a busy and exciting phase of his career. He surprised fans with a teaser for The Adventures of Cliff Booth during Super Bowl LX, a Netflix film that revisits his Oscar-winning character in a 1970s thriller.
Directed by David Fincher, the film features a strong cast including Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Scott Caan. At the same time, his racing drama F1 continues to be a hit, grossing over $630 million worldwide, and a sequel is already in the works.
He’s also filming One for All in Ireland, a drama adapted from the novel The Riders, and has been spotted around Dublin and Cork during production. Even with all this success, Pitt hasn’t lost sight of his love for cinema’s classics. “Some films should just be left as they were made,” he said.
Do you think Brad Pitt is right about keeping classic films like The Exorcist untouched rather than updating them for modern audiences? Share your thoughts in the comments.
