A Little History

An offspring of the carefully planned experiment by Mr. Sinister, Cable rapidly became one of the Marvel Universe’s most important and respected characters.

Soon after his birth, his birth mother, Madelyne Prior planned to utilize him as a way to open a portal between a dimension known as Limbo and Earth. Luckily, before this could happen, his father, Cyclops and other mutants intervened. After this failure, Sinister had planned to use the new baby as a means of exacting his revenge against his master, Apocalypse. Hearing of this, Apocalypse sought to stop this before it began. He did this by infecting Cable with the deadly techno-organic virus.

After the eventual defeat of Apocalypse, the now infected baby had a very small chance of survival. In fact, the virus is similar to that of cancer and it was rapidly making its way through the young Cable’s body. As a means to save him, a member of the Clan Askani took him to the future. Although Cyclops strongly opposed, he knew it to be best for his son.

Now in the future, his half-sister, Rachel had him cloned in case he was unable to beat the virus. This would, of course, lead to the capture of the clone, who would then be raised Apocalypse and called Strfye. Rachel then pulled Cable’s parents into the future where they would remain for the next 12 years. She did this so as to keep the baby safe from harm. While in the future, Cable learned how to use his mutation as a means to keep the virus from causing him harm.
