A movie theater in Canada has found a very creative solution to a surprisingly simple problem: it apparently never received an official poster for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Instead of leaving the wall empty, the theater put up a hand-drawn Spider-Man poster, and the result has quickly become a fan favorite online.

The photo was originally shared on Reddit, where a moviegoer joked about how rough things had gotten at their local theater. The post showed a homemade drawing of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man alongside a handwritten apology from the theater.

“We never recieved the real posters! Sorry for any inconviniences,” the sign reads.

The spelling mistakes only make the whole thing more charming. Rather than looking like an official piece of movie marketing, the poster has the unmistakable feel of something someone put together because the theater had to make do with what it had.

The person who shared the image initially described the theater as being so “scuffed” that it could not even get the real poster for one of the biggest movies of the year. At the same time, they gave credit to whoever was responsible for the artwork.

It did not take long for internet users to figure out where the photo came from. According to an edit added to the original Reddit post, the theater is a Famous Players location in Prince George, British Columbia.

What started as a joke about a missing poster quickly turned into something much more wholesome. The homemade artwork gave the theater a bit of personality, while the sheer effort involved made it hard for fans to complain.

The timing is also amusing considering just how massive Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become. The Tom Holland movie opened in theaters on July 31 and has turned into one of the biggest theatrical hits of 2026. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and brings Holland back as Peter Parker, with Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Florence Pugh, Mark Ruffalo and others appearing in the cast.

The movie follows Peter as he tries to operate as a more independent Spider-Man while protecting New York City. Unlike some of the previous MCU entries, Brand New Day puts more focus on Peter working alone and dealing with street-level threats.

That makes the homemade poster even funnier. One of the year’s biggest blockbusters apparently still had to rely on some old-fashioned creativity to fill a theater wall.

There is also something fitting about a local cinema creating its own Spider-Man artwork. The character has always had a strong connection with ordinary people, and this poster certainly feels more personal than a glossy studio advertisement.

Whether the theater eventually received its official posters is unclear. For now, though, the hand-drawn version has arguably become more memorable than the real thing ever could have been.

And honestly, whoever drew it deserves some credit.
