If a recent Captain Britain rumor is to be believed, he is on his way to the MCU. The rumor came to fruition after an inside source at Pinewood Studio sent the below to Ain’t It Cool News:

“I work at various movie studios in the UK and have been situated at Pinewood for a few weeks, and I’m moving to Cardiff on a project soon. I haven’t seen anything about this online anywhere, so I thought id send the info on to you: Space at Pinewood has been booked for November & December 2018 to hold auditions for a Marvel project called CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND THE BLACK KNIGHT. The name of the director booked in for all these dates is GUY RITCHIE. Marvel seems to be moving fast with it to fill in the space left behind by Danny Boyle’s aborted Bond 25. Everyone is excited because it looks like another few months of solid work when we thought we would have to wait a while.”

The inclusion of Captain Britain really seems to be picking up steam. It wasn’t too long ago that Orlando Bloom of Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings fame expressed his interest in the role, should it come up.

This news coupled with Marvel putting a hold on the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie may very well mean that Captain Britain will be replacing GOTG in its release spot.

Don’t know Captain Britain?

Orlando Bloom As Captain Britain

Captain Britain has been there defending the United Kingdom since 1976. He is also the older brother to X-Men alumni and the fan-favorite character, Psylocke.

After a near-fatal motorcycle accident left Brian Braddock a shell of the man he once was, he was given a unique opportunity by a legendary magician and an unusual source. During this time, the magician Merlyn and his daughter, Roma gave him a choice. The offered him a chance at life (the Amulet of Right) or death (the Sword of Might). He chose the Amulet and was transformed in Britain’s great defender, Captain Britain.

With Marvel looking to take their stories a little more cosmic and less scientific, if true, this Captain Britain rumor, makes perfect sense.

Cheers,

Joel
