Channing Tatum Hints at Mind-Blowing Moments in ‘Avengers: Doomsday, Says Fans Are Not Ready For What’s Coming
Channing Tatum is back as Gambit in Marvel’s upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday, and he’s already giving fans a lot to be excited about.
Speaking on The Supes Show, Tatum teased the movie, saying, “You’re just not ready on this one. I’m not obviously not allowed to talk about it, but like, you know, I knew what was coming in Deadpool Wolverine. I knew people weren’t ready.”
He added, “I knew that people were just their brains are going to ooze out of their ears when they watch Blade walk on screen, and this is going to probably triple down on that.”
Tatum previously confirmed that Gambit will face off against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in what promises to be a major action sequence.
Tatum talked about what makes Gambit different from other heroes. “He likes women, he smokes, he drinks. He’s not just a save-the-world kind of guy — we need those, but we need contrast,” he said. He worked closely with Marvel to refine Gambit’s accent, deciding not to go fully Cajun.
The Russo brothers, who are directing the film, want Gambit to bring both humor and serious moments to the story. Tatum explained, “When Gambit gets serious — when he drops the Mardi Gras mask — things do matter.”
Filming in London was long and challenging, but Tatum described the experience as rewarding. He admitted he considered leaving the project to be with his daughter but ultimately decided to participate, saying, “It’s OK. She’s going into middle school now.”
Tatum first played Gambit in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, where the character quickly became a fan favorite. He now reunites with X-Men stars like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden. Tatum also has a long history with Gambit, having been attached to a solo movie that was shelved after Disney acquired Fox in 2019.
Fans are excited to see Gambit return. Social media is buzzing with speculation about how he will fit into the larger Avengers storyline, especially with hints of a showdown against Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be an action-packed installment for both Marvel and X-Men fans. Tatum’s energy and promises of thrilling scenes have only increased anticipation.
