Charlie Hunnam Was Offered the Role of Green Arrow in the DCEU but Declined Spandex Really Isnt My Material

DCEU is counting down its last days as ‘Aquaman and the Last Kingdom’ is being released in exactly seven days. Snyder has already moved on from the disastrous cinematic universe he tried to establish and is currently promoting his new movie ‘Rebel Moon,’ which has received mixed reviews so far.

One of the stars in Snyder’s new movie Charlie Hunnam, probably best known for his role as Jax Teller in FX’s Sons of Anarchy, spoke to ComicBook.com about the fact that he was supposed to work with Snyder years prior playing Green Arrow in his DCEU.

As the interviewer mentioned, Hunnam was often cast as the most notable archer in DC comics, and as it turns out, he was approached with the offer to play him, but he declined. It wasn’t Snyder, however, Hunnam also elaborated that it was “people in suits” and that he doesn’t really remember who the people in question were. Even though they tried to present it as an exciting opportunity, it took Hunnam one good look at Green Arrow from the comics, and he decided to pass on the role.

I did not share their enthusiasm. I don’t know who Green Arrow is. So I don’t want to offend anyone. I just looked at one picture, and I was like, I’m not sure green’s my color, and I’m pretty sure spandex isn’t my material, and beyond that, I was like, one image. Thanks.

So that settles it: the number one fan casting for Oliver Queen fell through because of the lack of interest, and that settles the debate the fandom is having since he still continues to be the number one fan cast for the iconic character.
