Chris Noth Takes Another Dig at Sarah Jessica Parker Over Sex and the City Sequel
Chris Noth is once again speaking openly about his fallout with Sarah Jessica Parker, and this time, he is not softening his words. The actor addressed the situation while attending the Blue Jacket Fashion Show in New York City on February 4, where he spoke briefly with the Daily Mail about his past with the Sex and the City franchise.
Now 71, Noth said he feels relieved that his character, Mr. Big, was written out at the very start of the sequel series, And Just Like That. He laughed as he explained that he feels lucky not to be part of a show that sparked so much debate and criticism. According to the Daily Mail, he said he was genuinely glad his involvement ended early.
Noth also made it clear that he has no regrets about missing out on the reboot. He appeared relaxed at the charity event and suggested that stepping away from the franchise was ultimately for the best. His comments come after the sequel series wrapped its run, following mixed reviews from fans and critics.
There were originally plans for him to appear again in a dream sequence later in the first season. Those scenes were removed after multiple sexual assault allegations against him surfaced in late 2021. Noth has denied the accusations, but the fallout from them changed his career and personal relationships.
When asked directly if there was any hope of fixing things with Parker, Noth gave a short and firm answer. He said no and added that the relationship is over. This follows a recent moment in January when fans noticed he appeared to agree with a critical comment about Parker’s Golden Globe recognition on social media.
Noth later claimed that the interaction was meant to be sarcastic and said it turned into what he called a tempest in a teapot. Still, the damage seems lasting. The tension between the former co-stars has now played out publicly more than once.
Much of the pain, according to Noth, traces back to a joint statement released by Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis after the allegations became public. Speaking on the Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson podcast, he said he was hurt that Parker never contacted him privately. He described the statement as brand management and said it was painful that a friendship spanning decades did not earn him a phone call.
He explained that in his view, real friends should talk first before making public judgments. He said that if the situation were reversed, he would not have handled it the same way. That moment, he said, changed everything between them.
Despite the rift with Parker, Noth appears to still have friendly ties with other cast members. At the fashion show, he was seen chatting with Mario Cantone, who later told reporters that there is no bad blood between them. Noth also shared that he keeps in touch with John Corbett and even reached out to Kim Cattrall on her birthday.
On the work front, Noth is slowly returning to acting. He recently finished filming a horror movie called The Block, according to production updates. The film is directed by Craig Singer and also stars Jack Falahee, Jackie Earle Haley, and Elias Koteas.
The story follows a former horror writer who finds inspiration again after a strange event, only to see his life spiral in dark ways. It marks Noth’s first major role since stepping away from the spotlight.
