Controversial and Inappropriate Fan Request Directed at ‘The Boys’ Star Valorie Curry Allegedly Revealed
The fourth season of The Boys recently premiered to mixed reviews, with critics pointing out its heavy political themes and a noticeable decline in writing quality. Despite this, the season achieved impressive viewership numbers. One of the key attractions for fans was the introduction of new characters, including Firecracker, portrayed by Valorie Curry, and Sister Sage, played by Susan Heyward.
Firecracker, in particular, stood out as a compelling new addition, characterized by her ties to conspiracy theories and far-right propaganda. Her character was notably inspired by Republican conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Valorie Curry has quickly become one of the most popular characters from The Boys, so it’s no surprise that she frequently appears at fan conventions. However, her recent appearance at the Northern Ireland Comic Con in Belfast was marred by an unsettling experience that prompted her to address the situation on social media.
During the convention, Curry encountered unacceptable behavior from two individuals pretending to be fans. While she hasn’t provided specifics about the incidents, she made her disapproval clear in a video posted online, condemning the inappropriate conduct.
“Hey guys. Just got back from the first day of Comic-Con in Northern Ireland, Belfast. And by and large, everyone was fantastic, I’ve only just started doing these conventions on my own and everyone for the most part has been so lovely, kind and respectful. (…) We do need to talk about boundaries and what is appropriate in terms of behaviour.
I know people saw a character that I played do some pretty extreme things – on The Boys. I don’t care if you’re in costume. I don’t care if you are in character. It’s not okay and it’s not funny to demand those things from me in person at my booth.
It’s not okay. Frankly, to the person who did that repeatedly today, I made it pretty clear that it wasn’t okay and that only seemed to make this person and their friend angry. I didn’t think this needed to be explained, but I was deeply uncomfortable. It was quite clear I was uncomfortable. I really want to be able to do [conventions].
I really enjoy getting to meet the fans and talk about the characters that I played – honestly, I really love it. I want to be able to do this. I’m not going to be able to do [conventions] if people are acting this way because it makes me so uncomfortable and honestly you should know better. Everybody else knows better, and again, I don’t know what reaction you were looking for [because] nobody was laughing.”
While the actress did not initially disclose details about the incident, fans who presumably attended the convention have provided additional context. According to these reports, the incident occurred when Curry was approached by a fan dressed as Homelander, who made an inappropriate request for her to breastfeed him.
This request was an attempt to recreate a controversial scene from the latest season of The Boys, in which Curry’s character learns of Homelander’s breast milk fetish and takes medication to induce lactation in an effort to win his favor. The scene references earlier seasons where Homelander’s weakness is linked to breast milk.
The fan, accompanied by a friend who encouraged the behavior, reportedly made this highly inappropriate request. Such conduct was clearly out of line and should have been promptly addressed by security. What are your thoughts on this situation? Share your views in the comments below!
