A crew member named Juan Carlos Osorio, aged 41, died in an accident at Radford Studio Center while working on the Marvel television series ‘Wonder Man.’ Osorio, a rigger residing in Temple City, fell off the rafters on a Tuesday morning. The incident happened on set but the filming did not take place at the time. The police do not suspect foul play is involved and a Marvel spokesperson came out with a statement.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident.

ATSE President Matthew D. Loeb characterized the crew member’s death as a “tragic loss” in a statement he issued.

Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We are working to support our member’s family, and his fellow members and colleagues. Safety on set is our highest priority and we will assist Cal/OSHA in their investigation in any way that we can. If you feel unsafe on set for any reason, members can call the IATSE Safety Hotline at 844-422-9273 or use our safety info app.

Following numerous rumors of cancellation the production of ‘Wonder Man’ resumed only recently. The production was reportedly delayed due to the strikes, which isn’t as surprising considering that plenty of other anticipated projects were severely delayed or are in the middle of reworks now that the strikes have ended. Notably, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is being reworked, and ‘Deadpool 3’ was about 90 % done when the filming had to be stopped. There was also ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ that had extensive reshoots following the strike’s end due to unsatisfactory fight scenes when compared to previous Captain America movies.

There are also rumors that ‘Wonder Man’ show will undergo significant overhaul and changes, which seems to be in line with the current MCU trend now that the majority of their 2023 projects have faced fan backlash and have notably bombed at the box office with ‘Marvel’ being the lowest-grossing MCU movie of all time.

‘Wonder Man’ is a Hollywood satire featuring Williams as an actor-turned-superhero in Tinseltown. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star as Simon Williams (Wonder Man,) alongside Ben Kingsley, Demetrius Grosse, and Ed Harris. Filming is supposed to resume next month.
