Daisy Edgar-Jones Gets Sultry in a Cream Top With an Intriguing Embroidered Waist Detail for ‘Sense and Sensibility’ Press
Few promotional runs get dissected as closely as Daisy Edgar-Jones’s ‘Sense and Sensibility‘ press tour. Fans and stylists have been tracking it look by look since the summer. With the film now out in the UK and heading to US theaters on Oct. 16, the wardrobe story is still going strong.
It all began with a nod to the past. Edgar-Jones kicked off the tour in a McQueen empire-waist mini dress in pintucked floral silk jacquard, a subtle reference to the Georgian era in which Jane Austen’s story is set. Her stylist, Dani Michelle, and the actress then followed it with 2 Vivienne Westwood looks, setting a period-inspired tone for the early weeks.

Her newest appearance takes a lighter, more modern approach. New photos of Edgar-Jones show her in a cream top with an embroidered waist panel that folds over her pants. The pieces show a ruffled top, a frilled trim peeking out at the waist and crisp white trousers, with the embroidery nodding to the delicate textures of period dressing without feeling like a costume.

The tour has covered a lot of ground. It has bounced between London, Berlin and Dublin, and Edgar-Jones recently attended a photocall at Wendy’s Secret Garden in Sydney in an ivory Alaïa Fall 2026 dress. One fashion outlet noted that after the early period references, her looks have felt more true to her own style.

That evolution is easy to trace. On Sept. 25, she wore a beige Chloé piece that paired a lace-trimmed, camisole-style top with a draped midi skirt channeling a Regency ballgown, a fitting nod to her character, Elinor Dashwood. She followed with a lilac Chloé dress featuring voluminous sleeves, ruffles and ribbons, and later wore an ivory McQueen military jacket while leaving a BBC Radio station in London.
The fashion has plenty to compete with, because the film itself is drawing attention. Georgia Oakley, known for ‘Blue Jean’, directs from a screenplay by Diana Reid, with Focus Features and Working Title behind the project. It premiered at London’s Leicester Square on Sept. 15, reached UK theaters on Sept. 25 and arrives in the US on Oct. 16.
Edgar-Jones plays Elinor Dashwood, the role originated on screen in the 1995 adaptation by Emma Thompson. Esmé Creed-Miles plays her sister Marianne, with George MacKay as Edward Ferrars, Caitríona Balfe as Mrs. Dashwood, Frank Dillane as John Willoughby, Herbert Nordrum as Colonel Brandon, Bodhi Rae Breathnach as Margaret and Fiona Shaw as Mrs. Jennings.
Focus Features released a second trailer on Sept. 30, spotlighting the budding romance between Elinor and Edward, who are seen dancing at a ball. Deadline’s review called the film a still-sharp social satire rather than a rom-com, crediting Oakley with a rebellious spirit. Focus and Working Title previously teamed on the 2005 ‘Pride & Prejudice’ and the 2020 ‘Emma’, which gives this release some pedigree.

With the US release still weeks away, Edgar-Jones likely has more looks in reserve. If the cream-and-white ensemble is any hint, the remaining outfits will keep blending romance with a distinctly modern feel. The McQueen connection runs deep, too, since she wore a custom corset gown adorned in heritage lace from the house to the 2026 Met Gala.
That consistency makes her press tour more than a string of outfits. Each look reads as a chapter in a running story, one that mirrors the film’s own mix of tradition and fresh perspective. For a movie about contrasting temperaments, the fashion has been unusually varied, from structured jackets to soft ruffles.

For now, the cream embroidered set is the latest entry in a tour that shows no sign of slowing down. Whether the next stop brings another period-inspired moment or a sharper modern twist is anyone’s guess.
