Daisy Edgar-Jones Serves Quiet Romance in Navy for ‘Sense and Sensibility’ Press

Press-tour fashion has become its own form of storytelling, and few stars are doing it with as much thought as Daisy Edgar-Jones. Working with stylist Dani Michelle, she has found ways to honor the codes of Jane Austen’s world without hitting the references too literally. The result has been a wardrobe that leans youthful and romantic rather than dowdy.

The tour has been anything but predictable. She began at the London premiere in a silver Vivienne Westwood dress, then wore an Alexander McQueen military jacket less than 24 hours later. She followed with a sheer black lace ShuShu/Tong dress over hot-pink undergarments at a London screening and a lilac Chloé gown with voluminous sleeves, ruching and ribbons.

Now the tour has produced another standout. The look is a navy blue dress with a square neckline gathered at the bust and dramatic puffed sleeves that fall to fitted cuffs. Her auburn hair is worn straight with long bangs.

The post does not name the designer or say where the photos were taken. Even so, the look reads as one of the most restrained of the tour. The deep navy and structured sleeves nod to the period setting without leaning into costume, and the gathered neckline adds just enough softness.

It stands in contrast to what she wore in Sydney. On Oct. 1, she attended the Australian premiere in a custom Miu Miu corset dress with a naked-dressing twist. The sleeveless design featured ribbons tied at the shoulders, a sheer peekaboo bra layer and a silver sequin-encrusted corset left slightly undone, with hundreds of silver sequins throughout.

Nylon put that Miu Miu look in a top-five press-tour dressing position for 2026, calling out the way she pushes the fashion toward something youthful. She has also worn Boucheron jewels throughout the tour. The navy dress feels like a quieter chapter in the same story.

There is a reason corsetry keeps appearing. Edgar-Jones revealed last month that being sewn into the corsets, petticoats and dresses of the film helped her understand her character, Elinor Dashwood. Her off-screen wardrobe, in other words, is part of the conversation about how she approached the role.

In the film, Elinor and her sisters are forced to leave their family home, and they move with their widowed mother to a cottage in Devon. Georgia Oakley directs from a script by Diana Reid, with Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne and George MacKay as Edward Ferrars. The film arrived in UK theaters on Sept. 25, and the US release follows on Oct. 16.

Critics have responded warmly so far. Deadline called Oakley’s version a rebellious take on Austen’s social satire, while Film Focus Online called it a charming and beautifully crafted adaptation, though it noted that the 1995 version may have the edge in terms of cast and emotional melodrama.

With the US release still two weeks away, there is time for more press looks. If the navy dress is any hint, Edgar-Jones has no plans to repeat herself.
