‘The Last Jedi’ and ‘The Rise of the Skywalker’ weren’t well-received movies when it comes to fans, especially some aspects of Ridley’s character Rey, who fans believe developed too quickly without any sort of logical explanation. Also, her lineage and expectations related to it were disappointing.

Daisy Ridley previously opened up about how she had difficulties making peace with her new-found fame as well as the pressures of such a massive fandom like Star Wars.

In her latest interview with The Times Ridley opened up regarding one more aspect of her life that was affected by Star Wars – her health. Ridley went into detail about how she started suffering from leaky gut due to the stress of shooting and traveling which she wasn’t really used to before fame struck.

Oh, God! Essentially, it was a leaky gut. I was just knackered. I’d never travelled that much, or done press junkets, and my body deals with stress in a very physical way, so my gut was manifesting an emotional reaction to travelling around the world, people saying hello to me in the street. And me going, “What’s going on?” And worrying. “Oh s–t, should it be me?” or “Am I good enough?” And I only really felt I was by the third film, The Rise of Skywalker . By then, I felt, “OK, I was chosen for a reason.” But it took a long time. It was super intense.

This is nothing strange, emotional states and digestion are definitely connected, some chronic syndromes affecting one’s gut are often connected to stress and other psychological factors and it’s nice to see Ridley spreading awareness of this fact.

Luckily the actress is now in much better control of that aspect of fame as she previously stated she is “owning it” now that she is older and wiser.

I suppose I feel more like I’m owning it. I suppose I owned it the first time. Basically, I’m an adult now. I certainly did not feel like an adult at the time. Obviously, personally, things have changed, and professionally, I’ve had lots of other experiences, and so I definitely feel like it’s a different thing this time.
